Deanie, I quite like cream soda, but did find the butterbeer overly sweet. I did love how they make it look like beer by having the foam on top, and am glad to have tried it, but once was enough!
Enjoy your time relaxing at home.

Frozen Butterbeer is delicious!! Mmmmmm,!! I still crave it. :D

Deanie – the ride in the castle is awesome. You guys should have tried it. It’s more a feast for your eyes. It has a lot of visual effects. I rode it more than once and I can’t stand roller coasters. :)

DEANIE, I don’t do roller coasters and I loved the ride in the castle.

We had a good day today. My daughter, her friend and I went to her favorite Vietnamese restaurant for lunch. Then, we went to the pottery painting place down the street. My daughter started a whole new piece even though she is not through with the one she started working on a few weeks ago. This one feature Hedwig in the owlery in the middle of the plate. It is a square plate with wide rims. The four rims are going to feature Hogwarts and the lake in each of the four seasons. She has always liked the way Hedwig in flight signaled the change of season in the movies.

Her friend worked on a preformed piece which was shaped like a Chinese girl with a dragon on her jacket, holding a fan over her head. The fan wall hollow and is meant to be used as a small vase. Her friend had little to no artistic skills. Even though the piece was preformed she had difficulty “painting inside the lines”, literally. Her piece was a mess and my daughter kept quitting working on her piece to clean up her friend’s work. So, my daughter only managed the initial sketch of Hedwig in the owlery on her piece.

My daughter insisted I do something rather than just watch them. So, she found a plain round Christmas ornament and put it down in front of me. I ended up drawing snowflakes on it and painting the background of the ball with three coats of blue (with little white flecks in it that burst when the paint is fired) paint. I painted the snowflakes in by leaving the snowflake shapes unpainted and went back and applied one coat of white paint. I hope it comes out as something I am willing to put on the tree.

There is a VERY nice bakery next to the pottery painting place. They are the elite, fancy bakery in town. They have lovely cookies and pastries. After we painted a couple of hours we took a trip next door and took a break before returning to our work. I had Grand Marnier Petit Fours. My daughter had Mexican Wedding cookies and her friend had chocolate petite fours.

I would love a frozen butterbeer too.

If butterbeer taste like cream soda then I would not like it. I do not like many wines. My daughter is always getting me to try different type wine coolers and I don’t like any. I don’t like beer either but I do like hard liquor. Jack Daniels Green Label and tequila are my favorites. I have drunk actual wine and liked it but not many kinds.

My Harley dog is such a baby. He wants to go outside but if Bridgett doesn’t go with him he won’t go out. This makes me irritated since I have gone downstairs to let him out. It is easier since I can open the door with no problem. I should have thought to seperate the doors and have them open seperately a long time ago. It sure makes it nicer to be able to close the door while I am downstairs. I usually leave it open until I get back upstairs since it was so hard to close.

My furnace is busy this morning. It is suppose to be the coldest day so far. I woke up early again today but was able to go back to sleep for an hour. So it was 6 AM when I actually got up. When I fall asleep early in the evening, I wake up before 5 which is entirely too early.

Nascar season is over. This is bad for me knowing the day and time for the weekend. If I am reading and don’t have on the race, I sometimes don’t realize that it is Sunday.

Deanie That is the reason why I never made it to the Harry Potter Theme park. Not only would I not be able to walk everywhere without resting my DS would not have done as well as me. I have thought about going with someone else but figured they wouldn’t enjoy my slow speed. My daughter went a couple of years ago but I decided not to go with them. I still remember going to theme parks and taking my mother with us. We spent a lot of time taking her back and forth from the park to our motel room because she needed to rest. I did not want to spoil my daughter’s visit that way.

Cool G with the rented ECV, it is a lot less wearing and you can usually find someplace in the shade to rest while everyone else goes on a ride. A lot of the rides are now accessable & you just leave the ECV at the place where you actually get on the ride and they move it to the exit so you can get right back on it.

Some rides & shows have the person on the ECV and their whole party go in a different entrance and they get passed to the front of the line. At Disney, the accessable line, where they put the ECV riders and their party, are the fastpass entrances & do not have stairs. So if you go with one of your daughters and family, you actually will help them get ahead of some of theworst lines. The ECVs have a speed control dial, so you will not slow anyone down.

I never got the speed dial beyond halfway and it was faster than I would want to go normally. I forgot something in the room and the bus was due in less than 5 minutes. So I left the DS at the bus stop and rushed back to the room. I was actually going fast enough to blow my bangs off my forehead. Mostly I kept it at one quarter speed or less.

I do recommend visiting during a slower season. They are less busy from mid-September to the week before Halloween, November 1 until the week before Thanksgiving, and mid-January until Spring Break. So the colder months are really the best times to visit Florida. Many of the rides and shows had :standby" times of less than 10 minutes & some had no wait time at all. A lot of the ride vehicles and theaters were only half to three-quarters full. ;)

I am home resting. My daughter closed on her new home last Thursday. Her boyfriend of three years and her bought a house together. No ring yet but I hope soon. :/

Today we helped her start moving into het house. She has a room full of boxes at home. Although she hardly spent anytime at home anymore. She looks so happy and it’s contagious. I didn’t lift any boxes I just watched them work. :(

My daughter is thrilled with her phone. She was completely surprised. The phone does more than she could have imagined. She can ask it questions verbally and it will look up the correct answer, show her the text and read it to her. She loves that it tells her the temperature and weather predictions for the week. It records her steps and calories burned. It can convert her vocal instructions into text. I can’t begin to think of all the things it does.

We attended early service this morning and picked the grandparents up and headed downtown to the Italian restaurant where we went with DEANIE and MR. DEANIE. The phone was opened there. After lunch we returned the grandparents to their respective locations (My mother went back to rehab with my father.). I took my daughter to the phone place to get the phone activated and we joined my DS and went to see CATCHING FIRE. We finished off the night at Dairy Queen.

It appears we have acquired new neighbors today. Our old neighbors spent the last couple of evenings moving out and today it appears we have new ones moving in. They appear to be younger than the ones who moved out.The old neighbors were probably closer to my DS’s age. From what I can see the new ones appear to be substantially younger than me. Maybe they will have a teenager (one my daughter would be happy to see, I hope).

Good evening!

We had son’s Parent Evening tonight. While he is doing fine in Geography and History, there is some cause for concern in his Maths and Physics. His classwork is good, but he seems to struggle a bit with homework and independent learning. I am not too worried……. The way they are expected to work is very different at this level, and the fact his classwork is good is encouraging. Both his teachers said that in the last few tests he’d made a lot of improvement; I just think he needs to get used to a new way of learning. They said some very nice, and very encouraging things about him.
It’s funny, he has grown up a lot sine he’s been in the Sixth Form. He is still very quiet and private, very self contained, but I see a growing maturity.

Josephine, I hope you have a lovely, deliciously warm home tomorrow!

LEW, how delightful to see you! How go the wedding plans?? Come back and tell all!!

Lady Hawke, I’m so pleased tour daughter was so happily surprised. The phones are scarily clever, aren’t they?

Deanie, happy travelling!

MM, I’m glad your daughter’s happiness is contagious, but I know you will miss her in your home, even if she was hardly there. We haven’t had a Grandson update for a while……how is he doing?

I thought I would get a head start on Thanksgiving. I was going to do my black boots, So I cleaned them. Then I opened the acuff cover to make them look like new. At first it would not come out. Then I pressed harder and it come out more than I was antisipating . It went thru all the paper towels I had and got on my table clothe. I took the table cloth off and put it in to soak. I hope the black will come out. I went back to do my boots and the whole top came off. So it spilled all over my table, floor, my clothes, and house shoes. After getting most of it cleaned up, I used the paper towels to do my boots. So I have at least one time cleaning my boots. The rest of my clothes are soaking in the washer along with my house shoes. The bad news is my finger nails. Most of the black came off but they still look stained. I hope the rest of the stain comes off when I wash dishes. I am glad I did it today and not Thanksgiving. Lol

Josephine I know how it feels to have your heater out. Last winter part of my electric did not work. Anything that was 220 did not work at all. That included my furnance, electric stove, water heater, etc. Part of the electric did work so I was able to survive by small heaters and my small electric appliances. I finally got the money to have the electrician repair my electric. They were digging a ditch from the outside electric meter to underneath my house. They were going to replace my electric lines. I kept thinking it was a not a fuse but the newer version of fuses that you just turn on or off. I had checked all the electric boxes (I have 3) and could not find anything wrong. I remembered that the outside box had 100 AMP circuit breakers that I had not check. I asked the electrician to take them out and check behind them. Sure enought one was burn behind so you could not see it by just checking the box. They were able to replace the circuit breakers instead of my electric wire. Saved me a lot of money. Of course I still had to pay for the time it took to dig the ditch and cover it back up. Thanks I was feeling a little down because of the mess I made but just thinking how much better I have it this winter than last has lifted my spirits.

I had a bit of luck at our medical centre today when I went to a clinic session for my ‘flu jab. I had realised when I was taking my first two pills of the day (for high blood pressure) that I had completely failed to observe, last week, that my pills were running low and I should order my next repeat prescription batch. The result of this absentmindedness was I was staring at an empty sheet of pills:( I swiftly filled in the form on my PC sent off my renewal request, BUT the standard procedure is that your medication will be ready for you in two day’s time. It really is not wise to have a break in your BP treatment so I confessed my sin of omission to the nurse, only asking for the pills I was lacking, if it was possible. Luckily for me my complete package was already packed up so I came away with my complete quota, feeling happy but slightly guilty that I had flouted standard procedure. It is slightly ironic that I choose to have my BP pills by the computer so that I won’t forget to take them, but as I am probably reading my castle posts whilst swallowing my pills, it is not very surprising that I am in automatic pilot mode. I must pay more attention in future.

BigG had a cold all last week but he took himself to an A&E department at the weekend because his uvula had swelled dramatically and it was a) alarming and b) made swallowing solids impossible. He was prescribed penicillin and took the day off work today; I don’t suppose he would have been able to speak clearly or without discomfort. He certainly did not enjoy the experience.

CoolG What a disastrous morning! I am impressed that you can still laugh about it. I hope that there is no permanent damage to your things. Your nails will look more appropriate to Halloween, lol.

FULL WARNINGASTI ASKED. :)

My adorable grandson is going to turn 7 mos on Wednesday. He sits , has two teeth and is army crawling. He gets up on all fours but just swings till he gets down. He is the happiest baby and smiles a lot all the time. The DS took this week off so we are babysitting the grandbaby tomorrow. Before the pacemaker I was babysitting twice a month. I just love him so much. I think he is a genius. He loves books and turns the pages of books. He loves to cuddle and is not a fussy baby at all. He FaceTimed with me during my illness and smiles at me during the video chat. Like he recognized me. I am only lucky grandma.

Good evening!

I couldn’t get here earlier, but I can now! :)

Daughter had her piano Prep Test today. It’s one stage before Grade One; sort of a “taster” exam to get them used to the process. She was filled with excited nervousness, and passed with flying colours! There was not one negative comment on her certificate. I am delighted for her. I think she has the potential to play well.

MM, thank you, that is a lovely update. He sounds delicious and I am glad you are enjoying him so much.

I didn’t try to get in earlier. But I’m here now.

It’s so good to see all or yall’s smiling avatars! It’s good to hear all the normal chit-chat with some good, happy news mixed in!

Things have been absolutely mind-boggling crazy for me. If I thought last year was crazy, this year is 10×. I hope it gets easier from here, because if not, we’re going to have some problems…

Asti asked about wedding plans – be careful what you wish for! Actually, not THAT much going on – with a year-long engagement, we have lots of time (of course, saying that, I have NO CLUE where the last three months have gone!!!). I’m in Atlanta all this week for wedding stuff. The main thing was to find a dress. Which, I actually did – on my first day (dress store #2… I had appointments at 6 throughout the week…). Let me know if you want a picture, or to wait for wedding pics.

I met with the church lady (event coordinator) today, and I’m meet with the event coordinator at the reception venue tomorrow, so things are coming together. I don’t have a definite on an officiant yet (I won’t get confirmation from my minister until February/March…but that still gives me time for a back up), but I have my music settled (a pianist and a soloist). the nice thing about my venue (the Country Club where my parents are members – though we’re going to the downtown club…) is that it’s all-inclusive. Meaning they do the food, set up, bars, servers, cake, settings, everything – I don’t have to find other vendors – which makes everything 100x easier. One of my mom’s best friends is a florist, so he’s doing the weddings (actually, I didn’t even have the chance to ask him, he declared he was doing the flowers as soon as my mom told him I was engaged. I think I may have promised him when I was 12 that he could do the flowers at my wedding if I ever got married – he obviously never forgot..). Other than that, I hope to finalize bridesmaid dresses and color this week and then I’m set until Christmas. The DF (Dear Fiance) is coming home with me then, so we can do stuff together.

That’s about it for now. I can keep you posted. ;)

Now, back to my wine….and grading. o.O

Goodness me! Three lots of good news to chase away the winter blues, a proud Grandma, a proud Mum and a friend getting over a nasty chest infection. I have a theory, the reason that social media is so popular is that there is a deep, unconscious need to counteract all the bad news pouring out of our newsrooms 24/7. I’m already sick of all the Christmassy adverts on the TV trying to part us from unnecessary amounts of money in order to make Christmas perfect, so I think I will cut down my viewing hours.

Asti Please give your lovely daughter a hug from me for doing so well in her first piano test. She obviously has inherited her music genes from you.

I just returned from babysitting my grandson. I was so grateful to have the DS with me. He did all the carrying around and I fed him his bottles and changed his nappy. We ended up deliriously happy but exhausted. Before the pacemaker I could do it on my own without a problem. Today I needed lots of help. :(. But it was a glorious day and I refuse to dwell on anything negative.

We are looking forward to doing this again. :)

Graymanyne – I’m happy with all the good news too. I love hearing about Dr. Lew’s wedding. Princess Pink’s awesome reports and Ironsos kicking that virus out.
