Yippee, two cards today! Thank you Asti and Deanie:)

We have blue skies and sunshine this morning which makes housework easier, though a bit shocking, lol. I should sign my name.

Did anyone see that huge moon last night? We had clear skies and it was super bright! Beautiful!!!! ;)

Dragging at work. I did not get to sleep last night. I just could not get comfortable and it seemed that my CPAP mask would not seal to my face, so I kept hearing and feeling the leaks. I just have never been able to sleep with air moving across my skin, not even a fan. If the ceiling fan is on, I pretty much have to cocoon in the covers.

Today is going to be so much fun! ;)

Good evening!

My cards are winging their way to the US. The queue was just too long yesterday, and I didn’t have the time to wait it out. My apologies if they do not arrive in time.

Mr. Deanie, your beautiful decoration arrived today. Thank you so much.

Graymayne, my faith in the Post Office is restored…….I only posted it yesterday lunchtime!

Wow, the aliens have kidnapped everyone!

Anyway, good evening!

Work is getting seriously busy. It’s stressful and exhausting, but it makes the time go quicker. And I’d much rather be rushed off my feet than be trying to find something to do.

The weather is seriously foul…..heavy rain and very strong, gusty winds. Since we lost the tree at the bottom of the garden in the last storm, I am eyeing the remaining oak with suspicion. It is half dead anyway, and if it falls towards the house it will be catastrophic.

My DS has to drive home in this too. He is at his works Christmas meal, about an hour and a half drive away. I will be happy when he is home. (He’s just rung…..he’ll be back @10.)

Daughter had her Christmas dinner at school today. She was most excited about her dessert…..a choc ice in the shape of a Christmas tree!

Our bad weather set in after lunch, following a dull and overcast morning. We’ve had rain, nothing exceptional for us, but the wind was certainly quite blustery and moaning in the chimney.

We have booked our customary lunch at the Crown country Inn for Saturday, the Winter Solstice. My DS has been sorting out his photo shoot pics, he has been learning how to use his new camera and comparing it with his previous ones. We currently have a very nicely cropped view of the ruins of Ludlow Castle with tree shadows thrown by the low midwinter sun as our PC wallpaper.

I must now watch some catch-up TV.

Getting into neglected areas in the flat and finding dust dragons (worse than bunnies)!

Graymayne What are worse than dust dragons? Whatever it is, I have a whole colony. Actually I think I have a whole civilization, with warring factions and other political divisions. ;)

I try not to disturb them as I do not want to be taken hostage by one group or another. ;)

be back on line due to parts not arriving.

Nice little snow today 5-6" here. That is about 15cm.

Asti I have worked retail during the winter holidays. It is always insane and all the customers are bonkers! Of course they are bonkers the whole year, it is just soooooo much more obvious during the holidays. ;)

I do wish that Leaky would stop telling me that I have misspelled words. it was so much more fun to stretch words out before the little spellcheck thingy kicked in. Does anyone know how to disable it? ;)

Won are you coping? I’m a bit worried about you. ;)

I decided to go pick up my meds and go to store today. It was gray outside and before I got back, it was misting. Thank goodness my wipers were working. Sometimes they don’t. I went to Walmart and the grocery and it took me almost 4 hours by the time I carried eveything in. I must have looked bad because they offered to take my groceries out for me at the store. This use to be a regular thing but has disappeared during the last 5 years or longer.

Ironsos Glad you have back up wi fi. It makes you angry when you go to get on the internet and suddendly you have nothing. This happened to me today. I was going to check my bank statement before I went shopping and discovered no wifi. It was back on by the time I got back. This doesn’t happened often but when it does, I am angry. My TV is out at the same time too.

My cards are mailed but no telling when you will get them. I forgot to go to the post office to get more stamps too. This means that most of my family won’t get their cards in the mail. I will hand deliver them when we have our Christmas get together. I have a stamp left that I am going to use to mail my brother’s birthday card. His Cristmas card will be hand delivered.

I have my card line almost full. Most are from you guys. They look so pretty and colorful. I have them on the wall by my kitchen table so I can look at them while I am eating.

I talked to Mistic Willow today. It was so good to hear from her. She is working again at Walmart so is pretty busy. She asked to say HI to everyone from her.

It was so nice to be able to receive and send a Christmas Card to Ella this year. I always miss not being able to send her a card when I mail PB and Felipe cards. I did not realize that it was so close to Christmas. I bought a beef roast today to cook for Chrismas at my house. I gave Beth the money to buy the ham etc. for the get together at her house last week. She always bakes it at her house instead of me having to do it.

Good evening!

Because I am A Very Nice Person, (honestly!) and also A Very Skint Person, and, possibly, A Stupid Person, I worked overtime today. The time went quickly, and it was almost……almost quite fun. Everyone steps up to cope, and it is a real team effort. But wow, am I glad for the weekend off.

The kids and my DS finished today. Because of Christmas being a Wednesday, I have to work Monday and Tuesday, but then I get five days off, which is going to be wonderful.

We watched It’s a Wonderful Life tonight. I wept. I always do!

CoolG, I agree about being able to send a card to "Ella!* I do hope my card arrives in time for you to put it up. I was so late this year too.
Please wish Mistic a Happy Christmas from me when you talk again.

Hugs for everyone! xx

Asti I will certainly back up your first personal label, and nod ruefully over the second label, but I will give your third label a very firm shake of the head. I have just sent you some healing energy for your aching body after your heavy day.

Mistic Willow Hi, Merry Christmas, nice to hear from you.

I won’t be around tomorrow morning, it is our Solstice lunch. I will take this opportunity to bid everyone a Happy Winter Solstice tomorrow and remind you that by January 6th you should be noticing the days growing longer. It is such a cheering thought.

HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE!

I am up, have been before 6 AM. I have been awake most of the night, thinking of what I have to do here for Christmas and what must be done at my parent’s apartment in the next four days.

My father was given a letter by the staff at the rehab place yesterday stating he would no longer be receiving therapy BUT if he wanted to continue it would be at a rate of $9000 a month. Otherwise, as he did not need any skilled nursing care, he was welcome to stay at a rate of $6500 a month with them providing him room and board. Staff members have confirmed they do nothing for him. He bathrooms and dresses himself. All they do is bring him a plate of food three times a day.

We are checking him out by Christmas Eve. The gastrointestinal problem seems to have been resolved. Last week it occurred to him he is lactose intolerant and they have been giving him a supplemental drink every day, I confirmed a milk based supplemental drink. He has been refusing it the last week and has had no more problems with nighttime stomach problems.

Still, my mother and I went last night and purchased a dryer which will be delivered on Monday. This is a backup for if the problem ever recurs. We are waiting to see the attorney again and to get all the new wills and powers of attorney signed before we make any offers on a house. The papers should be ready within the next two weeks.

My mother wants to move the extra long double bed in which my daughter sleeps into the master bedroom. One of the things that kept me awake during the night was the logistics of moving all that furniture with all I have to do here. Then, it struck me that the extra long double bed is on a high antique bed frame. It is not on a height with a normal bed or my father’s wheelchair. So, my mother is not going to be happy to find she is going to have to purchase a new frame because the current headboard, footboard and side rails are too high.

My house is still in piles and needs a good cleaning. I must remove the piles as there is no room to get into the dining room to have dinner.

I do not have enough time. The one tree I am putting up is about half finished.

Morning

I was able to get on to MY LEAKY this morning with my Kindel. Unfortunately I couldn’t get to the main page to get here. I was surprised to still be logged on this computer. That might have something to do with not being able to get on the home page.

I went to put my last two stamps on my brother’s birthday card and saw I only had one left. This means I will have to go to the post office on Monday to mail it. It is raining here. We are under a flood warning. We are suppose to get 3-4 inches of rain. My front yard will probably be flooded to my front door. I will probably have to go out the back door to get to my truck. The neighbors across the street covered up the ditch. Some kids lost their basketball in and clogged the drainage pipe. Every since when it rains a lot, the ditch over floods and comes across the road into my front yard.

Asti Don’t worry about my card being late. I usually keep my cards out until I start getting Mother’s day cards. Then I take them down and put them away. I usually put the year on each one so I know when I received them. One year I put up a special display that had the cards I had received from family that were no longer here. That might sound morbid but it actually made me feel like they were still here for Christmas.

Lady Hawke Good news about your father’s progress! I hope that the new legal situation will soon be in place without any hitches. What a roller-coaster year-end you have all been through! It is maddening how it is difficult to sleep just at a time when you need every bit you can get.

After a windy day yesterday, today was perfect for a drive out into the country for lunch. It was not as busy at the inn today probably because it is the last Saturday before Christmas, so many people will either be doing last minute shopping or cooking, or possibly starting a holiday away break. When we arrived home I lit some tea-lights, sat in my armchair and fell asleep immediately.

Merry Christmas and / or Happy Hanukkah to all.
I am sorry but this year I can not afford cards or stamps so I did not send out any cards, please be assured that had conditions been different that as long as I have your address you would have received on by now.
Thank you to those folks whom I have received one and a double thanks to Deanie for the surprize you sent.

Love ya’ll

Good evening!

I’ve had a lovely day. We did the Christmas Food Shop, and all we have left to get next week is the turkey, and a bit of veg.

Daughter and I did some baking………we have an ambitious project to make a cookie Christmas tree. I adapted the idea from a VERY complicated and expensive recipe in my magazine. Today we made the slices of trunk, and the star shaped biscuits that will form the “tree.” Tomorrow we will assemble, and daughter will decorate. It might still all end up a star shaped mess, but it’s been fun!!! If it works, I will post a pic.

Sirius, I do empathise. I was late posting my cards, and one of the reasons was the high cost of all the American ones. Don’t worry at all, we all understand. I hope you have a very Happy Christmas, and please come here more often!

Graymayne, I am glad you had a lovely Solstice lunch, and hope you enoyed your nap! Is your son coming to you for Christmas?
Thank you for the healing energy. I think it worked today!

CoolG, I think it is lovely that you keep all the cards. i am glad they bring you so much pleasure and memories.

Lady Hawke, I send, as always, hugs.

Asti Yes, BigG will be with us from some time on Monday 23rd until December 27th when he returns for an evening event.

Lunch was nice and the chef kindly did me potato Dauphinoise instead of Sage potato fritters. I don’t like sage to accompany turkey, I’m a thyme and parsley die hard. I confess that I found the turkey rather lacking in flavour which is something which has never happened with the ones we have cooked in the past. However, the dessert was very special, mulled wine jelly with cinnamon-flavoured pannacotta served up in an attractive jam jar being recycled for a different use, accompanied by two hot churros. I had to look them up on the web and once I had read the description and use, my first prejudice against anything from abroad barging its way into a Christmas meal faded away. They are, in effect, slender sausage-sized doughnuts of a very light consistency, created by using a piping nozzle. They are deep fried in fat and covered in granulated sugar. They are popular street food in South America at festivals and are often sold together with a chocolate sauce for dipping. My doctor would not approve, but I did, lol.

Graymayne – I love Churros. :D it’s hard to believe that a popular dessert here is also sold in th UK.

LadyHawke – my jaw dropped at the nursing home prices. O.O
I never thought how expensive it would be. At this rate your parents can rent a hotel room get room service and still be way under that price. >:(

I did my cards in two batches. Some may be very late but it’s okay. :). I am not pressing myself to do anything this year. :)

The DS and I stood at a ridiculously long line to pay for some Christmas presents. It was as long as the ones at Disney World. :/
I wish it had a ride at the end. :(

I have cards from:
Rhiannon
Ella
Ironsos
Cool G
Graymayne
Deanie and Mr. Deanie

What a wonderful set of friends! :D

I have finished my Christmas tree. My DS took a large load of donation items away. So, we finally will have a bit of room to move once the Christmas decoration boxes go back to the attic.

So, I will spend most of the next two days cleaning.

I hope to sleep a bit tonight as I have some accomplishments today and not as many things to do to keep me awake worrying tonight….I hope.
