It has just become light enough for me to realize it snowed last night, not much, but a definite dusting of snow. No one even mentioned there might be snow for us. We usually have a lot of advance warning if it is even conceivable we might see as much as one flake. This reminds me of my early childhood when you could wake up and find it had snowed without expecting it at all.

I am glad the machinery is gearing up to relocate your parents, your life logistics will be simpler once they are settled in across the road from you. I do hope that everything goes smoothly and that the weather stays reasonable.

I now have a folder of photos relating to A Discovery of Witches, downloaded from Deborah Harkness’s spot on Facebook. Her fans even make contributions, putting up nice shots of places in Oxford mentioned in the book. They all love the details and the history. I don’t envy the people involved with the proposed film of the book, these fans will be very knowledgable.

My DS has taken himself off to the Welsh coast to photograph an unsuspected forest which was revealed by the exceptional weather earlier this month. The sand will soon begin to cover over these pre-historic remains, so he is taking advantage of a lull in the weather. BigG will probably find the photos interesting, pre history is part of his knowlege of early weaponry. I’d better do some catching up on the housework.

If yesterday was cold today is even colder. I am under the covers in my warm bed. Thank God for school closings. :)
My MIL is also in her bedroom keeping warm. I am grateful for our wonderfully heated house. It’s -14 with the windchill at -35. Inside my house it’s a balmy 75 degrees. :)

The DS has the day off too due to the weather. The DS and I are snuggling watching movies. Yesterday was not as cold as today. I made breakfast and coffee. My MIL has dialysis today. :(. The DS is home and will take her. I will stay in my nice warm house. :)

Boy what a broken set of sentences.

Graymayne – is it cold in the UK? I’m just thinking of your DS and his trip to take those photographs. Good luck to him.

Ladyhawke – hopefully your parents purchase of the house across the street goes without a hitch. I love the thought of your life groing a little easier with them being so close to you.

Deanie – is supposed to get a taste of our “Polar Vortex” in her neck of the woods. I hope she gets to stay home. I think everyone of our Leaky friends will be experiencing some kind of winter blast.

MM We have only had a handful of days this winter when there has been frost on the ground. Today’s maximum temperature at home was 7C degrees and my DS, who is now back, was perfectly comfortable. The sky over Wales was pretty cloudy but he has a good crop of interesting shots. He timed his arrival at the coast just as the tide was going out and had several useful conversations with dog-walkers and locals and even a couple from the south coast of England who were on holiday and unaware of the changes wrought by the recent stormy weather. Altogether a good day out. He brought home some attractive bits of driftwood and a nice pebble; Mother Nature is a fine artist.

MM The snow is here, I would gladdly seen it to anyone that wants some. I hate the snow but I hate Ice that much more, and we will have Ice in the morning on all the roads. Ga drivers are not use to that kind of road conditions and some the people move here from up North have for gotten how to drive on it, so we have a lot more accidents. The DS had to go in this AM, weather was clear, by noon the snow was upon us and started home. That was over an hour ago and she hasn’t made it home yet, usually a 40 min. drive. She has called about road conditions so I know she is OK, just waiting.

It took me a bit over 2 hours to get home. It is a 25 mile trip, one way. It took about half an hour to go the first 2 miles. Then I was slowed down 4 times for police blue lights. They were all on the side of the road with distressed motorists. I did not see any with more than one car off the road and they all seemed to have everyone out of the cars and walking around. No ambulances and only one with a wrecker there. ;)

That first 2 miles included two firetrucks and three ambulances, all with sirens and lights running, contributing to the gridlock. Fun, fun, fun!!! ;)

I think I need a nap. Later. ;)

DEANIE, will you have to go to work tomorrow?

ASTI, I enjoyed your post at the New Castle.

I have posted more about the house saga there.

Everything is progressing there but the closing should be early to middle week instead of Thursday. There were some repairs that were determined to be needed and the title search still has to be done for every owner the house has ever had to make certain the title is clear.

Deanie and Mr. Deanie – are you guys ok? Atlanta is all over the news. I worry.

The thought of having students stranded at our school is just unthinkable. Seeing school busses flipped over. Oh my!!
Sending lots of protego spells Atlanta’s way.

MM We are fine, the DS is enjoying the off time. We just learned that Govenor Deal has closed the state gov. for tomorrow as well so she won’t have to get out in the mess. The temperature is supposed to get above freezind tomorrow so it should clear up. In the meantime everybody is pointing the finger at everyone else as to whose fault it is, it is sad nobody wants to stand up and say “they messed up” It is sukch a rare thing in GA that you can"t predict and you just have to deal with it the best you can. They just should have started earlier on the roads and staggered letting people go home and getting their kids.

Sadly if I really “Hit” the dollar store you would not be hearing from me for a while.

Winter storm warning in effect for tomorrow. Up to 3 ft. or about 1 M of snow in the Mountains. Just
a few inches downtown.

DEANIE, my password didn’t work at CC, so I tried to set a new one. I followed the suggestions, made lots of variations, and it would not accept any of them. I can’t get into CC.

Hi, Huff, it is cold here but we’ve missed the frozen stuff so far, at least any functional amount of it.

Hi Lady Hawke, I’m glad you’ve missed out on the precip. I think people can withstand cold better than slick conditions.

Lady Hawke Sorry about that. Send me an email so I can “invite” you back. ;)

I don’t have to be back at work until Friday, as it stands now. It is such a power game and most of us know it is just a bunch of malarky. The Governor announces that the State Government will be closed and about 10 minutes later we are told that the Commissioner has decided to close our Agency. Like the Commissioner had any choice. Once the Governor had made his announcement nine of us would show up anyway. ;)

We have a solid, grey lid for a sky today, so it is very gloomy. The news programme informed us that January has been the wettest in the UK since records began one hundred years ago! Some parts of the Somerset Levels have been flooded for a month, turning one village into an island. It seems as though 2014 is going to be freak weather year if it carries on like this.

Good evening!

It’s taken four days, but I am beginnng to feel back to normal after the emotional impact of the weekend. Lots of emails are coming in from Mum and Dad; it is good to be able share it all with them.

No overtime this week……until I asked again today, and I am able to pick up 5 hours tomorrow. Yay!

I had to log in today. For some reason I was kicked off.

I am going out tomorrow. My Schwann man said it is only my road that is still ice covered. I need to get some groceries. I have made it without milk for most of the month. I would have went today after the Schwann Man left but I still needed to wash my hair. With it being so cold, I did not wash my hair this week. I only wash it twice a week during the winter any way. I am also doing my laundry since it has warmed up. Did not do it while it was so cold because I did not want to put so much water down the drains. When it is so cold, the drain could freeze up if it got cold under the house.
