Ironsos That link didn’t work for me:(

Asti I’m relieved that your parents have been in touch. I’m glad that someone else is into pebbles. We’ve been picking them up for years and quite a number are dotted around the garden. Some aren’t allowed to get dirty outdoors, lol.

I unpacked lots of boxes today and still have more to go. I filled three of the four glass cabinets but I know there are a few missing pieces, things I was expecting to see and place that have not showed up yet. I trust as I empty more boxes those items will appear. It is more cheerful to have the pretty things back on the shelves.

Tomorrow my daughter wants to go paint pottery and my mother plans to go with us. She won’t paint but she will watch and see the other people who are there.

I guess I realized Donald Sutherland was British but I didn’t realize Keifer, his son, was born in the UK too. Keifer’s most famous characters are extremely American.

Just tried a can of Sanpellegrio limonata. 18% lemon juice from concentrate. You know those pictures
of young kids biting into a lemon slice? I now know how the feel.

When Mr. Malfoy says (in “Chamber of Secrets”),“lets hope that he (harry) next time will be there to save
the day” and Harry answers; “Don’t worry I will be”.

Lady Hawke The thought of the family treasures being put back on show in the cabinets gives me the belief that your mother’s instincts as a homemaker will get her through the bad days. The improving weather will be another spur.

Adella Hi, good to see you. My favourite quote is from the first book when Professor Dumbledore visits Harry in the school infirmary. “After all, to the well-organised mind, death is but the next great adventure.”

I am so forgettful. First I meant to take my meds after breakfast. Got distracted and cleaned the bathroom. Came back into the kitchen and saw me meds waiting to be taken. I did take them. Started to read the post and the next thing I was sweeping. Came back to read, then I was mopping. After mopping I do have to rest because it hurts my back. I still need to vacuum and dust.

It is a holiday weekend but no one will be coming to my house. I will be going to Beth’s for Easter. Gee it smells so good after I have mopped. Maybe I should get some freshner that smells like my cleaner.

Ironsos I tried to read about each person but the site kept messing up. It would come back saying it had captured the site again but I finally got tired of it happening.

Jennifer has came over for the last two days to eat lunch with me. She probably won’t today since we ate all of the left overs yesterday. If she does, I will just fix something quick. I like when she stops by to eat. Having someone to eat with makes it more enjoyable.

Graymayne We use to use rocks to decorate our yard. We had to buy them. I remember buying a very large rock that we could put our flag pole in. It cost over $400. I bought it for the DS for Father’s Day. He loved it. It is still next door in the yard but no flag is flying.

I couldn’t resist the pull – I’ve started re-reading A Discovery of Witches for the second time this year. This time however, I read aloud to myself the whole of the first chapter, savouring the rich detail with close attention. It is a great opening chapter.

I have just realized why I mention things about my shower on Friday or Saturday. It is because I take it later than other days so I am sitting here at the computer while I am resting from drying my hair. I always have to take a break because I can not keep my arms over my head long enough to dry my hair completely or to style it. I can tell that it is warmer outside. It was not cold enough for me to turn on a heater to get the bathroom warm but the furnance was not running.

It is suppose to be in the high 70’s today and tomorrow. So I will be wearing summer clothes ie white capri’s and light colored sweater type blouse.

The ice really did a number on my gate. It is wire………oh you know the type…. Chain link while the rest is made from wood. It broke the wire that holds the chain link to the bottom. Harley discovered this and has been pushing it out to go outside the gate. I wired it back down but I need a heavier wire. The lighter wire broke and Harley was able to push it out again. Bridgette was barking early this morning. When I let her back in I heard Harley outside the fense. I let him back in but it was too dark to see where he got out. Later when they went out, Bridgette was barking again. Harley had pushed the fense out and broke the wire I had used to re wire it to the bottom of the gate. At least he comes back inside the yard when I call him.

Graymayne Has her third book in the series came out yet? I can not remember.

Good evening!

I am not talking to my cats. Yesterday, one of them caught a mouse, which, despite my DS’s rescue attempts, became lunch. Then it became vomit all over the patio. Today I returned from the local shop to find one munching on a small bird, whilst it’s mate sat on the garden table, shrieking. I was not impressed.
At least they don’t bring their prey into the house, unlike my parents cats!

Since I have managed to pick up so much overtime this month, I treated us to a Chinese takeaway tonight. It was very yummy, and very filling!

Last night we watched Frozen. I was seriously impressed. The animation was absolutely stunning, and it was a simple take on an old story. It was nice to see some new Disney magic. A lovely film!

CoolG, the UK release date for the third book, The Book of Life, is mid July.

My mother, daughter and I went to have our hair done this morning. I returned home about 2:30 PM and I have been cooking ever since. I have a ham in the oven. I’ve made cole slaw. I’ve boiled eggs for deviled eggs. I’ve prepared the filling for half the eggs and will do the other half with avocado filling tomorrow. I don’t want the avocado to turn brown. Tomorrow I’ll cook some fresh asparagus and make the avocado eggs before we eat.

I need to get some laundry done tonight so I’m not doing it tomorrow.

ASTI, I’m glad our cats don’t go outside. I don’t enjoy the hunting aspect of an indoor/outdoor cat.

I won’t be wearing anything new tomorrow, just the same things I wear to church and work every day and every week.

HAPPY EASTER!! – I am off to my daughter’s house where we are gathering this year. Our lunch/dinner sounds about the same as LadyHawke’s. Ham, asparagus, pasta, potato dish, deviled eggs, cold slaw and a strawberry salad. I made my grandson two baskets. LOL! I couldn’t fit his gifts in one so I used two.

My mother in law is back. :(

It was a nice week though. :)

HAPPY EASTER!

Whispers, “I forgot to make an Easter Basket.” So, I was up about 6 AM out in the garage getting the basket. Then, I trolled through the house looking for things to put in the basket. I remembered I purchased a lot of cosmetics my daughter likes just after Christmas and had it stashed in the closet. So, I pilfered my stash and added some grocery items she likes that had not come in from the car.

We are dressing for church. My DS has gone after his mother and then we will rendezvous and go in two cars to church. My daughter is wearing a new, long length dress for Easter. If we all went in the same car she would have to climb into the far back seat in a long dress, not easy or good.

My mother is making potato salad so we have a potato dish as well.

Good evening, and a very Happy Easter to you all.

We have had a quiet day. The weather turned, and it was rather wet and gloomy. I cooked a half shoulder of lamb, (on special offer several weeks ago, and stashed in the freezer,) and made nutella pancakes with icecream for pudding.

We have been rewatching the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice with the perfect, perfect Colin Firth. Episode 5 tonight, and I enjoyed a lot of smouldering looks from Mr Darcy! It’s the first time my daughter has seen it, and she is enjoying it very much, despite her Mum embarassing her by pretending to swoon so often!!

Lady Hawke, what is your new hair like? And there is a lot of positives from your Mother…..getting the ornaments out, having a haircut, making food for today……..how is she, and how are you? And is your daughter coping ok?

Keep smiling, MM, keep smiling. xx

Ironsos, I enjoyed it very much, thankyou! That song stuck in my head after watching the film, and it is even more firmly stuck now! That’s a very big voice. Was that the song that won the Oscar??

I had a very enjoyable Easter. The grandbaby is growing up so fast. He is a genius of course. :)
We had dinner, the baby opened his two baskets. It did not have candy but it had toys , clothes and bubbles. He also picked up plastic eggs that were filled with his favorite cereals. LOL!

My mother in law and I celebrated our birthdays. I received a great gift. My mother in law announced that she wants to return to Texas. She misses her young grandchildren too much. :D
The DS promised to take her back the weekend of a May 2. I don’t want to yell YIPEEEE!!! too loud in case our neighbors across the pond may hear me. I will gladly take a personal day off work to accompany the DS. :D. :D

Did I say that too loud?

The sun is trying valiantly to break through the mist and low cloud this morning to cheer up our Bank Holiday, but we have no plans to travel anywhere. Holiday traffic is no fun.

We have eaten seasonal foods, hot cross buns, salmon with lemon and cream sauce, small new pototoes and broccoli, chocolate bunnies instead of dessert, lamb chops with wine and cream in the gravy, creamed potatoes and peas followed by icecream made from clotted cream (my doctor wouldn’t approve) and more chocolate bunnies.

Now I must sit and swallow my four pills before breakfast, (sighs).

Morning

It sounds like everyone had a happy Easter. I did too. Beth wasn’t having dinner until 4 PM because Jennifer had to work and would not get off until then. Instead of going there so early I figured I would give them time to be up and about. Beth finally called me and told me to come on over. We would sit out on the deck and read. I did not need any more since I was already dressed. We just talked sitting outside on the deck instead of reading but that was OK. We went inside and I started pealing the 10 lbs of potatoes. That is my job. Beth does everything else. I provide the ham but she cooks it. She also provides all the other food so I get off lucky. Jennifer brings the different drinks and washes the dishes after dinner. We eat off paper plates so it is mainly the pans that were used to cook dinner. Of course we usually help her. My grandsons usually have to wash the dishes but we give them a break on the holidays.

The granddaughter came over and brought the great granddaughter. We all took turns holding her. We had planned on eating outside on the deck but that all changed when the baby came. My daughters and I did not eat in the dining room. The baby was at the table in the kitchen so that is where we ate. Lol

After most everyone else had left, we were sitting outside on the deck when my daughters laid out a plan they had cooked up. We are going to Gatlinburg the first of October. My other daughter and granddaughter will be meeting us there. It is half way for both of us. While there we will be white water rafting and possibly …….Oh the thing where you ride on a line up in the air….Shoot I left all the brochures in my truck. Beth wants me to look over them to see if there is anything else I want to do. This means I have to start walking to get in shape to keep up with them over the weekend. Just the incentive I needed to drop the extra 10 lbs I have gained over the winter.

The girls say it is too dangerous for me to walk here. They could be right since there are so many strangers living here now. We use to be the safest neighborhood around here. That is no longer the case. Remember when both my houses were broken into and trashed not counting all the things that were stolen? It turns out the boys who did it just lived at the end of my street. When I was cleaning out the storage room that was still intack, I sit some of my yard things that I had made on my porch next door. Well someone stole all of them too. They even took my Indian that was made out of a log, my rocking chairs, and my benches. These had been on the porch for years but were taken when they took my birdhouses and things I had made. I don’t think anything has been taken since I brought Harley and Bridgette here but still I won’t walk any further than the end of the road and back again.

Anyway they decided that since I knew how to get to the city park, I should go there and walk the trails. This means I will have to drive to get there. That will be more driving than I usually do in a month. Later I might start walking with them if I can get my energy levels higher.

I need to mow my yard. I remembered I needed to charge the battery befor I try to mow since it has been sitting over the winter. Thank goodness I remember where my package of lawnmower paperwork was. I did not have to look everywhere for it this year. So the lawnmower is plug in and the battery is charging. After I had got the extention cord and looked where to plug it in on the lawnmower, I remembered it had it’s own extiention cord. I did have to hunt for my tennis shoes that I wear to mow the lawn.

Good evening!

My DS was off work today, as well as last Friday, due to the Easter Bank Holidays. All is back to normal tomorrow, and the offspring start the new term.
This will be my daughters last term at Junior School. In September she will start High School.

CoolG, I am glad you have somewhere safe that you can go to walk. Your local area doesn’t sound too good. And you have a lovely incentive to get out and take some exercise, and build your confidence. I’ve read about Gatlinberg. Have you been there before? It sounds like it’ll be a lovely family holiday.

MM, yayayayayayayayayayyyyy! I’m so happy things have worked out for you without discord and arguments. And Happy Belated Birthday. xx
