graymayne after spending 5 hours last week trying to get my Russian visa I’m already regretting my trip :-) Honestly, I appreciate there needs to be some bureacracy around these things but oh my god! I was tearing my hair out. My first visa request was declined because it was on an old form (I’d filled it in online earlier in the week and the visa forms had changed mid week), then I didnt have an invitation letter from my hotel/travel agent in Russia so they wouldnt accept my application (I had to ring an agency and pay £15 so they would issue me with an invite). Then the invitation letter had slighly mispelled the name of my hotel (there was one letter difference) so the letter was different to my application form. I obviously didnt know this because the invitation letter was in Russian so I had to resubmit the application. This time when I rewrote the visa form I stupidly (in my haste to get the ordeal over with) added an extra digit to my passport number (so had to fill in a new form), then my signature on my visa was slightly (and I mean very slightly) different to my passport so I had to fill in another form . . .and to make it even worse every single person who wanted a visa was experiencing the same problems and the visa centre only had 2 computer terminals for us to use to rectify mistakes/re write visa forms . . so the queues where enormous. I think I spent longer in the Russian visa office than I will in the country . . . I have to get my Mongolian visa this week . . please keep your fingers crossed for me :-)

laura to inspire even more ‘food’ jealousy – yesterday I went to the Ben and Jerrys Sundae festival in Manchester. Not sure whether they hold the festivals in the US too, but its a family friendly music festival (Maximo park was headlining). I went with my friend and godson and took my 2 year old nephew with me. We had to pay £15 for the ticket – but once we got into the event we could eat as much Ben and Jerrys icecream as we wanted for free . . . it was amazing. Today I am actually thinking that I never want to ever see another icrecream ever again.

My nephew was a big hit during the Maximo Park set – he decided to show off his dancing skills and he drew quite a large crowd of very amused onlookers. He had such a great day and was so well behaved . . I had a number of people coming over to me to tell me how cute he was (the only blip in the cuteness stakes was the mini tantrum he had when I decided that 4 trips on the carousel was enough and we had to get off . . he screamed his head off)

Oh Wolfie I used to be a cook, I’m tough as nails, it takes more than a love tap from a little ol’ girl like you to knock me out. You sure your nephew was not screaming cause he had to be with you???? (bwahahahahahahaha)

bonjour from a very warm and sunny Paris (well it was about 3 hours ago – its dark now).

sirius you are so mean. My nephew loves me. I have to make him love me so that he will care for me in my old age. Despite all the time and money I have lavished on my other 3 reprobate neices and nephews they plan to put me in a home as soon as I start to lose my faculties.

Wolfie Cut them out of the will if they do! And tell them of your intent. ;)

You could always tell them that the one who cares for you will be the sole beneficiary and if they all abandon you, it goes to your uiversity or the SPCA to care for homeless cats (or orangutans). ;)

Wolfie, I am sorry you are having so much trouble getting your visas. There is a reason I usually only travel between my country of origin and my country of residence.

Afternoon, all! Are we on this poll now? I haven’t caught up yet, just a quick pop in to say we’re home, exhausted, and have LOTS to do.

It was amazing to meet Felipe, LadyHawke & Little Hawke finally in person and to see Jen & Rhiannon again. LeakyCon itself… amazing moments amongst the utter frustration nightmares I will have to address through email now. Wolfie it sounds like your visa application process was similar to some of what we dealt with there. However, time with friends and the programming we actually made it to was all awesome. Disney week also stellar. Just SO TIRED now and not looking forward to all the home-and-have-to-deal-with-real-life-again stuff. sigh At least we’re back in the northwest coolness. No more sweaty messes! Yay! LOL

Will try to catch up later. I’m having trouble typing with these false nails I had put on for the trip, so need to get them taken off ASAP. Hope everyone is well, see you soon.

I’m hoping she’ll write about Snape who ejected his consciousness through the crown chakra at the top of his head prior to his body dying (this is called Phowa in Buddhism) and now his soul essence has been reborn in the body of …..?? hmmm, surely not a Potter. Perhaps a Granger-Malfoy child. Ok, what do y’all think?
