Morning all!
I finally had a chance to check out the bird box, and I am so amazed – I missed it last year, so I didn’t realize how clear the picture would be. It’s so up close; I’m very impressed. I can definitely see how it can be addicting to watch! :)
Jen, isn’t the picture fab! Last year there was sound too, I don’t know why there isn’t this year. Once the chicks hatched, the noise was quite something! I’m glad you’ve found it, and hope you enjoy watching. When the light is at the right angle, you can really see her markings and colours very clearly, especially in the lower camera. She is beautiful.
I couldn’t get sound last year. There is a control for it this year, but I don’t tunon the speakers at work, just headphones.
It is hard to work in headphones, though because I have to either unpug or remove them every time I go to the copier or to lunch or the ladies room or even into the files.
A big pain if I’m busy. ;)
turn on, not tunon…
And unplug, not unpug…. ;)
Good Morning Everybody!!!! IT’S FRIDAY!!!! IT’S FRIDAY!!!!
WOW am I glad that IT’S FRIDAYI!!!! I should hear from the Fireplace Man today, something about the tiles being cracked in my Hearth, He has ordered a Marble beige Slab to put over the Hearth tiles, Marble is very strong, and less likely to crack, If you put tiles over a couple of cracked tiles, it is very likely they will just crack again, so the Marble solution is a much better answer!!!! Well the daughter is comming down Sunday for Mothers Day, and we are going to go to a breakfast buffet that is close by, I have been also informed that she will of course be with Bilali!!!! which is just fine.
I AM WISHING EVERY MOTHER HERE TO HAVE A WONDERFUL MOTHER’S DAY!!!!! The temperature here is going to be 66 and Sunny Skies!!!!. My grass was cut last night, and I love the smell of fresh cut grass!!!! now I just need to get to planting my Blue Moon Hydragea plants, they arrived Wednesday from Michigan Bulbs, I want them in the front of my yard and I can not plant them too close to the fense, because they will grow between 5ft and 6ft and spread out, lots of people use them to outline the sides of there driveway if they have a long one, I could plant them on the right side in the front of my house, they do well against a House or as a border Marker, the flowers bloom COLBALT BLUE, and I have been told that they glow at night time, this is the reason I was so set on Blue Moon Hydrangea bushes. I have a picture of them linning a driveway as my screen saver, they are absolutely beautiful!!! Stanely and I will probably take a walk down on the Boardwalk this evening after dinner, and I will be his first experience walking down the boardwalk, he is pretty good on a leash, and does not bark alot, so I hope he will do pretty good.!!! I was watching Sherlock Holmes last night and some of Law and Order, I went to bed at exactly 10pm exausted. Well it is time I get busy with what I have to get done today, so I will talk to everybody a little later on today!!! lol
Aloha! ;)
I suppose Mama Bird is resting now because once those eggs hatch, she will be hopping non-stop. It is after noon where she is and she is sleeping! ;)
Once the feeding frenzy starts, Papa Bird will help out. Of course, since thee is no highly obvious coloration difference between the genders, this could be Papa Bird sitting on the nest part of the time. ;)
I have a lot to do today and even more if the boss doesn’t come in. ;)
Thee should be there…. I wish I could type. ;)
I’ve just finished DH on audio. Again.
That cave under the whomping willow gets smaller all the time.
In PoA Sirius had Snape just dangling with his feet off the ground all the way back to Hogwarts. Snape is tall. So is Sirius and he walks, not crawls, the length of the tunnel. True he had to duck under a few rock outcrops, but he did not crawl or change Snape to a horizontal position.
In DH, the trio have to crouch and crawl on all fours. They must have had some powerful rain to wash in enough sediments to over half-fill the tunnel from one end to the other. ;)
At least ONE tiny WHITE BABY BIRD has HATCHED!!!
Saturday, 9AM Leaky Time, 3PM LOCAL BIRD TIME
MAMA BIRD moved and it was wriggling around under her.
We’re up to THREE babies. Twenty minutes have passed since I started watching and saw one baby.
MAMA BIRD moves to remove eggshells of the newly hatched and to feed them once they have recovered from being born. So, you can get a look then.
Their bodies are the color of their eggs and they have slightly grey heads.
Just saying hello. :)
GAME NIGHT THIS FRIDAY AT 9:00 PM LEAKY TIME!!!
Good Morning Everybody!!!! HAPPY MONDAY TO EVERYBODY!!!!
Madame Minerva did you say that game night is this FRIDAY? lets see that is the 14th of May at 9pm, someone will have to let me know where??? It has been so long since I have been able to participate in the games!!! I am really excited!!!! Aloha! ;)
I hope everyone had a nice weekend and that all the mothers among us had a Happy Mother’s Day! ;)
Morning all!
I think I’ll be able to participate in the games, woo hoo! :)
I can see about three baby birds right now.
I hope the mothers here had a great day yesterday.
flurk
All the eggs have hatched, I see 10 chicks with all mouths open.
Back later.
Aloha! ;)
Blah kind of day. Maybe I can be productive. ;)
Bbl. ;)
The chicks are not fairing well. Half are gone. I’m a bit depressed about it but can’t seem to make myself turn it off. I suppose I want to see someone make it.
DEANIE, a few days ago, you posted about your audio book, and how the tunnel to The Shrieking Shack changes in size. I’m currently re reading PoA. As you say, Sirius makes Snape drift along, hitting his head on the low ceiling. But, when Harry and Hermione first get into the tunnel, after Crookshanks has frozen the Whomping Willow, “they moved as fast as they could, bent almost double.”
I love those little discrepancies!
Poor baby birds. I hope some of them make it.
If none of the baby birds survive this next week, will the mama go out and try again this spring? Maybe she will find a mate that can stay and help feed the babies.
I think there were two adult birds last year. Maybe her mate was killed by a cat or a bigger bird before the babies hatched. In the wild, Blue Tits have an expected lifespan of only about one and a half years.
If the worst does happen, I hope the school empties the box fast so she or another can try again this year.
Asti Perhaps you or your son can suggest it, if it comes to that. :(
Hometime in 40. ;)
Deanie
I looked. Blue Tits have a nesting season that runs March through June. They will tend to have one or two broods. Since this one hatched out in mid May I wonder if there is time for another June hatching. It seems as if nesting season started in March we should have seen activity in this box several weeks earlier than we did. The calendar placement of this hatching suggests this was the one and only nest for this pair as it seems to lie dead center of the nestings cycle, with the babies not due to be out and about until June.
Good Evening Everybody!!!! WOW we have had nothing but off and on RAIN here all day!!!! I finally got the planting done I needed too. I hope everybody here is well and have enjoyed this Tuesday, It sounds like Lady Hawke and Asti, and Deanie have been doing some bird watching!!! I think a very interesting hobby indeed!!!! I love most birds, but the RED CArdinal and the beautiful color of the Blue Jay stand out for me!!!! and the Bald Eagle is Majestic and beautiful in Flight!!! Oh well I will can it now, I have never really spent a lot of time searching for a particular bird, but I do love watching them and sometimes can’t help wanting to join them in flight!!! Just think of the sights you would see!!! I know I would probably not want to come back down again!!!! I have learned alot from watching Animal Planet, Wild Kingdom, and the call of the Wild!!! Shows like that really excite me!!! and I am always fascinated in learning more about any creature Lions, Tigers & Bears or Wolves especially!!! I am excited about being able to play games this Friday night, I just hope I find everybody!!!! lol
Aloha. ;)
I checked about an hour ago, we’re down to four. :(
Bbl. ;)
Yes, we’re still at four but a couple of those are particularly bad and the stronger ones are not well. I would have thought the mother could handle them when they were down to reasonable numbers.
Good Morning Everybody!!! A Happy Wednesday to ALL!!! We are having warmer weather today, but they are still calling for strong thunderstorms this afternoon!!!! I AM WISHING EVERYBODY TO HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY!!!!!
i wanna go to the theme park :(
I finally saw an ad for the theme park with an opening date.
MISTIC,
That is quite interesting about the pellet fireplace. I’ve never heard of them or I didn’t know the significance anyway. That sounds very nice, especially in an area of the country where you tend to lose power during the winter.
Yes, one good thing about appliance disasters is you can think it will be awhile before it happens again.
