Melissa John and Frankie got together last month and watched the final Deathly Hallows film and recorded a DVD commentary! Instructions on how to listen are included in the first 3 minutes – Enjoy!
Yay! I’ve been waiting for a new Pottercast forever and this is just as great! Hopefully I can give this a listen along with my DH2 DVD this weekend! Thanks guys!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
i hoped for a podcast but this is good. when will the january podcast come out? can you PLEASE re-introduce the fan interviews??????????? )))
oh and i got jingle spells!
Hahaha, Melissa. Caught the Dr. Who reference in there… you did an excellent River Song imitation of “Spoilers.”
Loved the commentary, even after listening to it without the DVD playing (because that’s too mainstream), I could follow perfectly fine. :3 Thanks guys
I dont think you said anything that wasnt already said in many groups of HP. Like your podcast, the movie presented itself as a comedy act in the making. I think both script and direction was off and as a whole picture it missed its mark.
Rupert really shined.
Revised… I meant that your podcast made us laugh just as the movie did. We mocked it just as the crew did. Bonnie did well! Thank you John for noting that … Her expression of outrage over Harry was moving. ((if you were being sarcastic, take a look at the rest of the acting, esp Emma, nothing to brag about))..
Troop, they totally ruined the movie in the end. I will have to wait to see HBO create a series and maybe someone will do it properly.
This was brilliant, it was so funny and I agreed with so much that Melissa said. About changing the role of Hermione, isn’t she Steve Kloves’ favourite character? That may be why he gives her so many of the other characters’ lines. My main problem with this film (and there are a few problems in my opinion) is the length – it’s the shortest of the eight films and there’s so much that they cut out (e.g. details on Dumbledore’s background). I understand that perhaps they were afraid of breaking the pace but I think it was important to fully understand that Dumbledore was fallible. I absolutely think that it was necessary to cut the book into two to do it properly but they should’ve given us our money’s worth with the second film! I also think that the flashback of Snape’s memories was far too quick and jumpy – I wonder whether a person who hadn’t read the books would really be able to follow it all. From what I’ve read, most people prefer Part 2 but I actually preferred Part 1 – it was nice to see the trio being given proper dialogue that allowed them to really show the relationship between the three of them, instead of cutting their lines down to the bare minimum so that they could only say things that pushed the plot forward quickly.
Just read on Melissa’s tumblr that you guys ARE trying to record another PotterCast but experiencing difficulties because of your busy schedules -you have no idea how grateful I am for the info that you guys have not forgotten and are “trying so hard to record.” Obviously I would prefer if you had success but all the same, I am glad to have the knowledge that you are still trying.
i really want them to bring back the fan interviews, are you smarter than john noe, but the 2.0 version and i really love the call in shows! i only got thru half the commentary but as usual, john is hilarious!

King’s Cross can still exist as a dream where Harry is trying to figure out what happened to Voldemort’s soul in him…
