Owl Post: Bringing you the best in Harry Potter
The Official Newsletter of LeakyNews.com! |
The post Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows publication news has been coming in a steady flow stemming from a few new interviews with author J.K. Rowling. The biggest of the news was perhaps revealed during a Today Show interview with Meredith Vieira, that Jo revealed she will indeed write a sort of Hogwarts, a History type of book, by penning an encyclopedia about the beloved magical world of Harry Potter. In the "Deathly Hallows" SPOILER-FILLED interview, which was rebroadcast on Dateline NBC (and can be seen in our video galleries,) our favorite author gives details on a great number of other subjects including additional details on post deathly hallows careers and lives of some of the characters from the series. This new information also included the naming of the character which Jo gave a reprieve to in the seventh book, and much more. The transcript of the "Today Show" interview can be found here.
In addition, the Today Show website has released further information from their exclusive with J. K. Rowling where she gives new insight and her reasoning why she chose the fates of certain characters. Please be advised this is an article about death, and more importantly gives a great many spoilers for the final Harry Potter novel, so readers are cautioned.
On a related note, in two other interviews Jo revealed even more information about the seventh Harry Potter novel. In a USA Today interview, the author briefly mentions that she is "sort of writing two things at the moment" and gives even more "Deathly Hallows" details. This article also features a lovely new picture of Jo, which you can see in our image galleries. An yet another USA Today article, Jo goes on to reveal the two characters that she had not planned to have die in the final installment. Jo also gives more insight about her decision not to revisit or continue on with the Harry Potter series, as well gives additional information on other characters and their outcomes in the final book. This interview can be read here.
As with all of these interviews, and in interviews to come, they do contain book spoilers. Readers who have not yet finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows should be cautioned.
J. K. Rowling has just answered a whole onslaught of post-DH question in a Web chat on Bloomsbury.com. We have reordered the questions so that it reads top-down; answers are here about the characters' future lives, the state of the wizarding world, the other two title potentials for Deathly Hallows, and much, much, more. More than 120,000 questions were sent in; and as it's the first time J. K. Rowling has been able to answer questions so freely in a fan chat, there are spoilers and details GALORE.
You can read the entire web chat, right here.

J. K. Rowling Midnight Reading of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Reader E-mails
Dear Leaky Cauldron,
In Deathly Hallows, it say that James and Lilly Potter died on the 31st October 1981 when Harry Potter was about 1 years old. Doesn't that now make Harry 27, not 17?
A Devoted Reader
Dear Devoted Reader,
Deathly Hallows takes place in '96/'97 - not '06/'07.
