Harry Potter Books to Remain on Gwinnett County Library Shelves

The Gwinnett County, Georgia Board of Education voted unanimously tonight to allow the Harry Potter books to remain in public school libraries there.
Last month, a parent (who said she had not read any of the Potter books in their entirety) brought a complaint before the Board asking that the books be removed because, she said, they promote “evil themes, witchcraft, demonic activity, murder, evil blood sacrifice, spells and teaching children all of this.”
Thanks to reader conniat, who attended tonight’s meeting, for letting us know about the decision.
UPDATE: Here is local coverage of the meeting, from the Gwinnett Daily Post.
