If you’d signed up for updates from Muggles for Potter, you’d know that on December 1, “the Muggles for Harry Potter Web site will be renamed Kidspeak. Kidspeak will fight for the First Amendment rights of kids, and we want kids to play an active role in it. We are developing interactive features and other means to make it possible for them to speak out in their own defense. Of course, we will not abandon Harry Potter. We will continue to fight efforts to ban the reading of the Potter books in public schools and to require parental permission to borrow them in public libraries.”

Muggles for Potter is trying to find people in the Santa Fe, TX school district to join it in opposing a restriction on Potter books. If you’re in the area and interested, contact Tim Eubanks, (212) 587-4025. If you know of an attempt to ban a Potter book or any other book, report it to the ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, (312) 280-4223.

The Leaky Cauldron is not associated with J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros., or any of the individuals or companies associated with producing and publishing Harry Potter books and films.
