Harry Potter author JK Rowling has written two new books to conjure up more cash for Comic Relief.

Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them went on sale this week. The amount raised from the two 42-page volumes is likely to dwarf the success of past Comic Relief publications. A collection of Delia Smith recipes raised GBP 1.2million four years ago. But Ms Rowling’s contribution is likely to make up at least half the proceeds from tomorrow’s Red Nose Day.

Ms Rowling said: “I’ve always supported Comic Relief. There is something wonderful about the idea that laughter should be used to combat tragedy
