Weakening to the rumor of Hugh Grant playing Gilderoy Lockhart in the second HP movie, a reader sent us the following summary of Hugh Grant’s appearance on the Rosie O’Donnell show:

“I have the April 2001 Rosie interview on tape [and] watched it again. He brought Rosie the two Harry Potter Comic Relief books, he said because someone told him she had a picture of him promoting Harry Potter on her desk. She showed the picture and it was from the photo shoot Hugh did for Harry Potter for Comic Relief. In the photo, he is wearing a brown jacket and dark round eyeglasses, reading the green Comic Relief Harry Potter book. They talked a bit about all the money going to charity, then Hugh said Harry Potter fans should be excited (about the new books.) End of topic. I’m not sure how that translates into him “blatantly speaking about his procured role” or into a rumour that he is in talks to play Lockhart. Certainly I’d like to see him in the film, but unless I’m missing something, I wouldn’t expect it from anything I heard in the Rosie interview.“
