Lots of interesting “Chamber of Secrets” rumors today!! Please note – all these are just rumors! We do never post anonymous rumors on The Leaky Cauldron, also we do have a name related to the movie production as a source for all rumors we publish here. But they’ll stay rumors until the actor, the actor’s agent or Warner Bros. confirms the part!
A person, close to Kevin J. O’Connor — he worked with him in the 1999 movie “The Mummy” — let us know that Mr. O’Connor should be doing the voice of Dobby, the house-elf of Lucius Malfoy in the second Harry Potter movie.
Apparently Warner Brothers has spoken with his agent and Kevin J. O’Connor has a good chance of getting the part. Thanks to Daniel!
Daniel also reports us the following rumor:
“I have learnt, from a source which prefers to remain confidential, that there were two other candidates for the role of Professor Severus Snape, the Slytherin potions teacher. Those two actors are none other than Jason Isaacs, who starred in “The Patriot” (2000), and co-starred in “The End of the Affair” (1998).
The other candidate, ironically was Robert Carlyle, who co-starred alongside Robbie Coltrane (who will portray the role of Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter series) in “The World is not Enough” (1999), and starred in Angela’s Ashes (2000).
However, it seems that since the part of Snape has already been taken by Alan Rickman, and that Robert Carlyle fits the description of Arthur Weasley almost perfectly (except for the colour of his hair), Robert Carlyle has been offered the part of Arthur Weasley instead.”
The third rumor is a very strange one: our reader Kate told us that there was a notice up in her school for the Chamber of Secrets auditions. This notice has been taken down now, but next to Tom Riddle and Moaning Myrtle, there was also a part named “Young Hagrid” on that paper!! We add that part to our CoS Preview Page now!
