The Hollywood Reporter reports today that HP director and producer Chris Columbus has signed on with WB to develop and direct Slanted and Enchanted, which is based on a script by Ben Queen. Mark Radcliffe and Michael Barnathan, partners from 1492 (Colmbus’ production company), will also produce, along with Bonnie Curtis and Jim Lemley.
Slanted, the article says, “is described as a dramedy about a recovered pathological liar who must return home and interact with his parents in order to unravel the mystery of his sister’s illness. Things spiral out of control, though, as he falls into self-destructive patterns. The project is said to have some magical elements at the center of the story, similar to the ones Columbus explored in directorial outings Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”

Readers will remember Columbus is also currently working on adapting Broadway smash Rent for the silver screen.
