Reminiscing

Can you remember last year how we were all excited and hyped up for the Deathly Hallows release? Amidst all of that excitement, there was also a small pang of longing and a bittersweet feeling because that was the last time we would stand in line for a midnight release for a Harry Potter release. Now, the time is upon us again except it’s Twilight, not HP, that is giving us a memorable book release. Tomorrow night my best friend and I will be standing in line with many other people for Breaking Dawn. We will all rush home to crack the book open and start reading.

I already have my day planned out. Not just my night, but my entire day. Tomorrow morning I’m going to get up, go to Barnes and Noble, and ask them what time they’re going to start handing out wristbands, if they’re using wristbands at all. I’ve been to B&N twice this week and asked each time and both times the answer was, “Uh, well, we haven’t been told much about the release at all so I don’t know, but for Harry Potter we started handing them out around seven…so maybe then? The release party starts at ten so maybe they’ll hand them out then.”

*headdesk*

Come on people. It’s not Harry Potter, I know, but at least try to have some sort of plan beyond “it starts at this time and we’ll hand out books at midnight.”

After I go to the bookstore I’m going to come home and probably contemplate other ways that I can deck myself out. Then I’m going to waste away the rest of the day by doing mundane things and hopefully pass the time quickly. I’ve got several books from the library that are calling to me but I don’t want to burn out by reading too much because this week I’ve been doing a lot of reading.

When the time comes, my friend and I are gonna hightail it over to the bookstore and hang around until we get our books. Then i’m gonna come home and spend however long it takes to read the entire book. I doubt it’ll take me as long as Deathly Hallows did, but I do estimate staying up until maybe 5 or 6 in the morning? I want to read every word and soak it all in, just like I did with DH.

So my plans are more or less similar to how I handled the midnight release for HP last year, except I didn’t have my best friend with me on account of she (i)had(/i) to go to Italy for vacation. Have you guys given any thoughts to your plans? Are you dressing up?

Today’s Quote of the Day, as featured on StephenieMeyer.com is a Jacob quote, and he says “I’ll kill you myself! I’ll do it now!”
