The British Independent Film Awards will recognize actor David Thewlis with a special award next month. The BBC is reporting that David, who portrays Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter films, “will be recognised for his outstanding contribution to British film with an award named after the late Richard Harris.” The late Mr. Harris of course, memorably portrayed Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films. Previous winners of this award include fellow Potter actors John Hurt (Mr. Ollivander) and Jim Broadbent (Professor Slughorn, Half-Blood Prince).
Also Congratulations are in order for actor Ralph Fiennes who was nominated today at the British Independent Film Awards as he” receives two nominations in the best supporting actor category for his performances in The Duchess and In Bruges respectively.”
Yesterday, Ralph Fiennes, who portrays Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series, was honored by London Film Festival on Monday with the Variety UK Achievement in Film Award.
The British Independent Film Awards will be presented on November 30th in London, England. Congratulations to David and Ralph!
