National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is fast approaching us. For those who are unfamiliar with NaNo, basically from November 1 ’ November 30, the writers of the world write like mad. The aim is to write a novel length story, so the goal is 50,000 words in a month. It sounds impossible, but it can be done AND has been done many times in NaNo past.

This phenomenon first came to my attention in 2006 when I was deeply involved in Harry Potter Fan Fiction. It was when ˜Pudding’ first came to my mind. Pudding, although a favourite of Luna’s, is a story I wrote for NaNo and it revolves around the ˜Draco/Ginny’ ship. Now, regardless if you like/love AU or are strictly Canon fans, let it not deter us from the creativity that urges us on in the HP universe.

I have, however, not written much these days and this is when I turn to my fellow Leaky Crafters and find inspiration with the work that is done in the crafting world. I remember when I first started making the Dark Mark Illusion Scarf by © Lindsay that images of Bellatrix and other Death Eaters swirled through my mind, and plotting for my next scene took form.

Creativity and inspiration can come in all forms and in many ways. The next time you sit down to do anything Harry Potter related, no matter what your craft, let your mind wonder. Let the inspiration come to you and who knows, your next creation could help someone else be inspired, because I know you all inspire me 🙂
