“Deathly Hallows: Part 2” Qualifies for Oscar’s Original Score Award

The score to “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” composed by Alexandre Desplat, has made the Oscar’s Original Score shortlist, along 96 other contenders. The final nominations for Best Original Score will be announced on January 24th. Desplat was also nominated for his work on “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and “The Ides of March.”

John Williams, who composed the music for the first three “Harry Potter” films has been nominated for both his work on “The Adventures of TinTin” and “War Horse,” Patrick Doyle, who composed the music for “Goblet of Fire” was nominated for his work on “Rise of Planet of the Apes” and “Thor,” and Nicholas Hooper, who composed the music for the fifth and sixth “Harry Potter” films has been nominated for his work on “African Cats.”
