If you were one of the poor souls jonesing for Emma Watson to take up the lead role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, we’ve got some bad news. And it’s straight from the top, this time:

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”>Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life.

Well, whether you were hoping she’d be cast (as many were) or hoping she didn’t step near the production with a twenty foot pole (as many more were), that is apparently that.

Normally celebrities refrain from commenting on stuff like this, especially through unofficial channels like twitter, but yesterday rumors were swirling that Watson had indeed been cast in the film. The Hollywood Reporter was saying that, according to documents obtained by hacking group Anonymous, it showed that Watson was tied to the casting, even locked in already. Clearly not the case.

Now, the Huffington Post is reporting that perhaps she was just part of a studio wishlist, rather than actually cast. It seems the troubled production, which has yet to announce a director, and whose projected release is still more than a year away, won’t be getting this victory.

What do you guys think? Sigh of relief or humanitarian tragedy? Have it out in the comments below!
