Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, News

While this HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED by J.K. Rowling or anyone associated with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Rowling Library book blog reported yesterday that two publishers are vying for the right to publish the play.  MuggleNet also shared the unconfirmed news.  The Rowling Library writes,

Our sources have informed [us] that at least two publishers are trying to get the rights to publish the script play…We have been asked to keep the name of the publishers to ourselves.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set to open in London’s West End this summer.  The play is the sequel to J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, written with playwright Jack Thorne.

Nearly all successful plays are published as books eventually.  Future actors and directors use the book scripts to put on new productions.  Classic books of plays are even studied in schools, from Sophocles to Shakespeare to Simon.  Like the plays that came before, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will probably be published at some point.  But when?

Is this the start of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child becoming available to those of us who cannot make the trip to London to see a live performance?  How long will we have to wait?
