Christmas day brought us many things, but it also unexpectedly brought the full trailer of May 19th’s Alien: Covenant, . starring Katherine Waterston

Ridley Scott’s frightening and suspenseful film franchise returned a few years ago with a pre-quel, Prometheus (2012). Covenant continues the story, following the android David (Michael Fassbender) who was the only surviving member of the Prometheus exploratory trip.

Katherine Waterston stars as the strong female protagonist type that we’ve come to know and love; Daniels. She follows in the footsteps of Sigourney (the first four Alien films)  and Noomie Rapace (Prometheus).

The terrifyingly exciting trailer seems like a good middle ground between the original Alien and Prometheus.

Today, SlashFilm.com interviewed Waterstone and although she wasn’t able to say much she did reference Fantastic Beasts!

I’m so tight-lipped and boring, but I don’t like to give away the movie magic stuff, because I think it’s so much scarier when you don’t know how it was done. But we did have an amazing team. We saw images of every creature we were going to be dealing with beforehand, little puppet-y versions of them and stuff, and then there were amazing stuntmen who would act out a lot of it. Actually, it’s very similar to how I worked on Fantastic Beasts, so that was quite familiar to me. These are directors smart enough to know the more practical stuff the actors have to deal with, the better.

In Slashfilms interview, she says that Credence’s (Ezra Miller) haircut in Fantastic Beasts inspired her haircut as Daniels in the film saying,

“He has inspired me in many ways over the years, and that was one example of it.”

She discusses transitioning into action films, her favorite stunt, and working with the creepy neomorphs.
