News, Theme Park, Warner Bros., WIzarding World of Harry Potter Orlando

September 1 is a sacred holiday for Potter fans.  It’s the day we all desperately wish we were really heading to King’s Cross by any means—side-along apparition, flying car or carpet—to burst through the barrier onto Platform 9 ¾ and board the Hogwarts Express for a new term at our favourite wizarding school.

It’s not quite the same but, if you can make your way to Orlando, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios will be hosting a variety of events to mark the annual pilgrimage back to Hogwarts.

On September 1 itself there will be a special choose-your-own-adventure in the Wizarding World event.  Registration for this event will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Details on how to register will be posted on the Universal Orlando blog.

A photo scavenger hunt inside the theme park using the hashtag #BackToHogwarts will take place throughout the month.  Again, check the blog for details on how to participate.

Every Friday in September will feature a photo meet-up where you can assemble to take photos, ideally in costume, with other witches and wizards.  The times and locations below are taken from the blog:

Friday, September 7:
Land: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
Location: Hogwarts Express
Time: 2 PM EST

Friday, September 14:
Land: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
Location: Triwizard Stage
Time: 12:45 PM EST

Friday, September 21:
Land: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley
Location: Carkitt Market Stage
Time: 12 PM EST

Friday, September 28:
Land: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley
Location: Knight Bus
Time: 2 PM EST

Other events may pop up throughout the month.  If you haven’t yet experienced Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, this is a great time to check out this ride, which has been enhanced with 4K-HD projection imagery.

The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle will be shown on September 1 after dusk.

Are you going to the Wizarding World in Orlando in September?  Tell us about your trip in the comments.
