Over a year after we last saw Emma Watson on the big screen, she’s been cast in the latest adaptation of Little Women helmed by award-winning director Greta Gerwig. Her exact role in the Louisa May Alcott classic is unknown, but according to Variety, Watson is replacing Oscar winner Emma Stone as one of the March sisters.
Watson joins an all-star cast which includes Meryl Streep and Laura Dern, as well as Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet from Gerwig’s 2017 Oscar nominated film Lady Bird.

Though it’s been some time since fans have had the chance to see their favorite Hogwarts bibliophile at the theater, most recently in the billion dollar-grossing Disney live action Beauty and the Beast, Watson has certainly remained in the public eye. Most recently in her effort to champion the #MeToo/#TimesUp movement, Watson chaired the opening session of a global summit geared towards securing philanthropic support for the effort to end violence against women and girls.
In the style of Hermione and Belle, Watson also continues to recommend her favorite reads to fans through her Our Shared Shelf book club. She announced her latest selection, Milk and Honey by New York Times bestselling “Instapoet” Rupi Kaur, in July and just last week revealed the two “kindred hearts and spirits” as Watson deemed them, met for an interview.
