Hodgepodge of Potter Who News

You’ve probably already seen all the new photos from the Half-Blood Prince movie here on Leaky, but just in case you haven’t – they’re fantastic! The Daily Mail’s got a neat little write-up all about it that’s worth a look-see, here. It would seem Warner Bros. is even hinting at trying to make things up to fans for the delay – but without giving us specifics. The Daily Mail article quotes WB exec Alan Horn as saying, “the studio would have to pacify fans in the months to come. ‘We would never do anything to hurt one of the movies or the series,’ he said. ‘We love our fans.'”

It’s a catch-22, isn’t it? On the one hand I’m so tempted to protest WB by *not* going to see the movie. But I know myself better than that, and come time for the movie’s release in July, I’m sure I’ll be in line to see it, right along with everybody else. I guess I have to take comfort in the fact that it means Deathly Hallows won’t be as long a wait once HBP is out.

I think it would help so much if we had more of a Doctor Who series next year to bridge the gap while we wait! But of course, it’s specials only, and so they’ll be spaced out quite a bit. Just enough to keep us from protesting BBC Wales, I guess!

I’ve been sitting on a rumor because I wanted to hear it from more than one source. I’m not sure this entirely qualifies, because I’m sure the Daily Star could have picked up it where I did, which is from a poster on Outpost Gallifrey (well, I know it’s not really the OG anymore, but you know what I’m talking about). Anyway, I’m pointing that out so the right guy gets the credit for this potential news: Patrick Stewart is rumored to be in talks to do an appearance on Doctor Who. You can read Eddie’s take on how that came about on his blog, here. It’s definitely worth a read. The guy’s in a unique position to be pretty credible. So, Patrick Stewart. That’s pretty cool! (Couldn’t you see him as Dumbledore? Or Aberforth?) There are some speculations about who he’d play, which I won’t get into. I’m just excited to hear he might really be considering it.

Final thing – there’s a nice write-up about soon-to-be former Who head writer/producer Russell T. Davies in today’s Independent. Worth checking out!
