Madame Pince will be played by Sally Mortemore.

Manchester Online reports: “As soon as she finishes her stint at the Octagon in mid-January Sally is off to join the filming of the second Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, in which she will play Madame Pince. “I’m so excited,” she blurts out, “it’s the sort of opportunity I just never thought would come my way. I’ve never really been up for a proper feature film, let alone something as big as Harry Potter.

“In fact, I was excited just to be asked to audition, and then when I was called back I was hopping about with anticipation. No, I don’t have any trepidation about practically every child in the country recognising me as I walk down the street because Madame Pince is a librarian and a character who’s far removed from me.” It’s hard to imagine, then, that only a year ago Sally was wondering whether to continue with acting at all.

“I just didn’t know what direction I wanted my life to go in and, as a result, whether I wanted to continue in acting at all,” she admits. “I could have gone in any direction at all, I suppose, but I know other actors and actresses who’ve given up acting and still cry about it. “In order to decide, I suppose, I did a little Fringe show in Greenwich called Cousin Basilio. I did it for literally no money and it made my mind up that I wanted to stay in acting. Right after that, I was offered The Snow Queen and practically the same day I was approached about the Harry Potter, so I can’t help thinking I’ve done the right thing!”
