Magical and quirky, the Potter series is reputed to be among the bestselling publishing cross-over hits ever with 55 million prints and counting in circulation in the U.S. alone. But what sets Potter apart from the pack is not so much the creativity of J.K. Rowling, but rather, the bite that the traditional print book series takes out of the multi-media world (from Book Tech magazine).
The Mirror reports that LEGO broke the Harry Potter spell by being voted Toy of the Year. The firm’s Bionicles — different coloured robots which battle an evil beast — won the award from the Association of Toy Retailers.
In the Bafta awards nominations, honours were heaped on Lord of the Rings, leaving Harry Potter struggling to keep up, a more cruel fate than any devised for the boy wizard by his arch enemy Voldemort.
