Instructions

Cutting

Cut 2 pieces of gray fur to 10½" x 7½" (26.67 cm x 19.05 cm).

Cut 1 piece of gray fur to 10½" x 3½" (26.67 cm x 8.89 cm).

Cut 1 piece of gray fur to 4" x 3" (10.16 cm x 7.62 cm).

Cut 2 pieces of gray fur into scary monster hand shapes.

Cut 2 pieces of black cotton to 10½" x 4½" (26.67 cm x 11.43 cm).

Preparation

Pick out letters to spell "MONSTER BOOK OF MONSTERS" and paint them gold. (this could take several coats)

Screw the 4 eyes into the 4" x 3" (10.16 cm x 7.62 cm) piece of gray fur.

Cut the ledge off of two sets of the goofy teeth. Also, if you want scary teeth, cut them into points using sharp scissors.

Sewing

Author's Note: Unless otherwise noted, all seams are 4/8" (1.27 cm).

Using a zig-zag stitch, and staying close to the edge, sew three sides of the 4" x 3" (10.16 cm x 7.62 cm) piece of fur onto the center of the furry side of one of the 10½" x 7½" (26.67 cm x 19.05 cm) pieces of fur.

Lightly stuff the area, until the eyes are stable, then sew the remaining side the same way.

With right sides together (RST), sew the piece with attached eyes to the 10½" x 3½" (26.67 cm x 8.89 cm) piece of fur.

Repeat with the other piece of 10½" x 7½" (26.67 cm x 19.05 cm) fur on the unsewn edge of the 10½" x 3½" (26.67 cm x 8.89 cm) piece of fur.

Press a ½" (1.27 cm) hem into one long edge of each piece of black cotton.

Then, folding the raw edge in to the pressed seam, sew a narrow ¼" (0.64 cm) hem all along the pressed seam.

With RST and matching the raw edges of the black cotton and fur, sew the black cotton and fur together.

Trim corners close to stitching and turn.

With RST and matching edges, use a zig-zag stitch to sew one scary monster hand to the top of the right-hand side of the outside long edge of the book jacket, close to the edge.

Still with RST, repeat the step with the other scary monster hand and the bottom right-hand side of the outside long edge.

Finishing

Using E6000, or another good quality, strong glue, glue the words MONSTER BOOK on the top of the front of the book jacket and OF MONSTERS on the bottom of the front of the book jacket.

Glue one set of goofy teeth in between the hands on the front of the book jacket, pointing downwards as upper teeth.

Glue the other set of goofy teeth in the center of the edge of the back of the book jacket, pointing upwards as lower teeth and meeting the upper teeth.
