Bad news: Scholastic Inc., the American publisher of the Harry Potter books, today published a financial outlook for its fiscal year 2002. The following line makes all Harry Potter fans sad, as this seems to be an official confirmation that we won’t see book five anytime soon:

“Due to the absence of a new Harry Potter novel in FY2002 … we anticipate a … decline in overall revenue”

Scholastic’s FY2002 (Fiscal Year) ends May 31, 2002 – a release of Harry Potter Five in January or February now seems very unlikely! Expect the release date of next book to be about one year away…
