THE WIZARD WHO ENJOYS FEIJOADA*Meet Alfred, the boy “almost” Brazilian, that is on the movie HPSS/HPFS
Outgoing and very smart, Alfred Enoch is a lucky boy. He faces a huge challenge: be Dean Thomas, member of Gryffindor and Harry Potter friend, on the movies. Son of a Brazilian mother and English father, Alfred, who lives in London, is on Brazil visiting his relatives in Rio. Between his national preferences is guaraná** and Flamengo***. The boy lived for a year in Salvador, Bahia and speaks Portuguese really well.
The actor contract with the producer is for two films. Otherwise, Alfred is going to be Dean Thomas also in HPCS. For J. K. Rowling request and the studios, the actor can’t tell details of the movie, but told Estadinho about his experience and his wizard life in fiction, of course!
Estadinho: How were your chosen to do the movie?
Alfred: I had been on a play, in England, two years ago. That was why they looked for me. I made a few tests and I was approved for the part. Before I was trying for Lee Jordan, but, as I was too young, I ended up with Dean part.Estadinho: How long did the filming last?
Alfred: It was six months, but there wasn’t shooting every day.Estadinho: Have you read the books before you were called for the auditions?
Alfred: Yes, all of them.Estadinho: And which one of them you liked most?
Alfred: I liked them all, but the HPGF is the nicest because has more pages and takes more time to finish it.Estadinho: What would you do if you had the powers of a wizard?
Alfred: First, I would fly a broom and wear the invisibility coat. Then, I would learn how to become an animago.Estadinho: Who is your favorite caracter? Harry Potter doesn’t count.
Alfred: I wasn’t going to say Harry. My favorite caracter is Ron, because he is very funny.Estadinho: How did you studied and make the film at the same time?
Alfred: It was very complicated. As there were a lot of students, the set became a school. There were about five teachers to give classes for the youg actors. We studied about three hours a day.Estadinho: Do you like Brazil? Do you come here very often?
Alfred: I like a lot and I come here every time I can. The last time I’ve been here was in 1997. A long time ago…Estadinho: What do you like most in London?
Alfred: My friends and cricket (I don’t know how to write it but it says it’s a typical England sport), a very complicated game!Estadinho: What is your hobby?
Alfred: I used to collect stamps, but it gave me lot of work. When someone said to me: “Look Alfred, more stamps,” I said: “Ahhhhhh”. I didn’t have patience. Now I like to sing. I’m part of the choral of my school and we’ve even gone to sing in Belgium.Estadinho: Will you follow the actor career?
Alfred: Yes. I think it’s my father’s influence. He’s an actor.* For those who don’t know, feijoada is a typical Brazilian dish. It has beans and a lot of other stuffs.
