The Aberdeen Press & Journal also talks about new candy from Mars:

CHILDREN at an Aberdeenshire school became the first to sample the magical new Harry Potter sweets.

Pupils from Pitmedden Primary School got an exclusive taste of the candy at the village’s Mace store.

Children from the school’s primary five, six and seven classes took part in a Harry Potter drawing competition.

They were showered with free samples of the new sweets which feature in the series of JK Rowling’s best-selling books.

The wizardly treats included Chocolate Frogs, Magical Cards and a favourite from the books, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.

The pupil’s artwork was judged yesterday by Mace representatives and a winner from each class was presented with a prize at the event.

The primary five winner was Michael McHardy, the primary six winner was Lewis Stephen and the primary seven winner was Keirran Rainnie.

A goodie bag containing Harry Potter books, cinema tickets and sweets was presented to each of the winners.

The children were also given samples to take back to school and share with classmates and teachers.

The Harry Potter sweets, which are not due to be launched until October will precede the long-awaited first Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The sweets are the first of a range of confectionery planned by Mars.
