Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone has been nominated for best edited feature film of 2001 by the society of American Cinema Editors.

Empire Online has posted the list of nominations for the Empire Awards. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is up for Best Film, as are Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson for Best Debut.

When the classroom newspaper Weekly Reader conducted a year-end poll on its Web site, youngsters were asked to vote for the most important event of 2001. The winner, with 59 percent of the vote: the release of the first “Harry Potter” film.
