Potter Who? An Introduction

So… I love Harry Potter… and I love Doctor Who… and a quick look around the Leaky Cauldron and the Leaky Lounge tells me I’m far from alone in my duel fandom. Now that there are seven books out, and a lot less for me to obsess about Harry Potter-wise (although – movies! squee), I find that my inner fangirl needs something to speculate about and anticipate nervously. So… new series of Doctor Who help me with that.

Admittedly, there’s still a lot we can speculate about in the Potterverse – at least until we get the Scottish Book. But in the meantime, there are five Doctor Who specials coming out next year instead of a normal series-length season, and the rumors abound! Will David Tennant stay on past the specials? Is Georgia Moffett (Tennant’s current date-of-the-month but also the daughter of Peter Davison who starred this past series as the Tenth Doctor’s accidental offspring) going to make a return? Will Donna Noble (a.k.a. actress Catherine Tate) ever retrieve her memory? What happens now to Mickey and Martha, last seen sauntering off with Captain Jack?

It does remind me a bit of how I was right before Deathly Hallows was released. *sigh* I was so completely convinced that Harry was going to have to enter the land of the dead, probably accessed in some way through the Forest, which Hagrid would escort him to because Hagrid ferries the first years across the lake, which is like – River Styx and Charon. Ah, the theories! Remember when we still didn’t know who RAB was? Or whether Snape was good or bad?

I digress. I’m not going to offer up any rumors just yet, or tell you what my mad theory for the specials is next – that stuff can wait. I just wanted to introduce myself and invite any other Potter/Who fans out there to come hang out. After all, if the Doctor read book seven before it was published and his companion used “Expelliarmus” to defeat alien witches, why shouldn’t Potter fans pay it back with a little shared fandom?
