A Familiar Cat

I have been an on again off again knitter for many years and also dabbled in other crafts along the way.

Then I was struck with the Harry Potter bug and shortly afterwards found an online Harry Potter Crafts group where I could vent my talents. To begin with I generally stuck to Harry Potter themed knitting with Mrs. Weasley as my muse. The HP books and movies are just dripping with knitting items, so how could I resist?

I was then invited to join the Crafty Witches at Leaky. That was just amazing! I work full-time as an Engineer, so to spend some gal time with fellow crafters is just amazing. They even make allowances for me being in a completely different time zone. You can imagine the potential for trouble that happens when we need to have real time converstations! But they are a great bunch and are so supportive. I’ve made some long term friends here. That, I am sure of.

Last year I had a crafters tragedy. I injured myself and a partial shoulder disloctation meant no more knitting for quite some time. This was a blessing in disguise as it forced me to look further into crafts. Here I realised that there is so much more than knitted items to make from the Harry Potter world! I’m still experimenting with these other crafts and in particular I have thrown myself into quilting and hope to finish a HP sampler quilt at some point that I am working on.

I’m slowly getting back to knitting and hope to get back to full steam with that when my shoulder is ready, but in the meantime being a Crafty Witch at Leaky means much more now than a few knitted items.
