Hello everyone, Abbey, Iheartprofessorsnape here, guest posting for Candace about Snape and his sacrifices throughout the series.

Professor Severus Snape was one of the most mysterious characters that this series has seen. I may be biased since he is my favorite character as well, but what he did for Harry to succeed is what this series is based on. As I’m sitting here writing this, I have so many thoughts and ideas going through my head, but the one thing that I keep coming back to is that moment when Snape knew that it was Lily’s child Harry that Voldemort was going to go after, and he asked Voldemort to spare her life. That one moment, weakness on his part, saved Harry and was the start to Voldemort’s downfall.

After this, Snape becomes a double agent. He is amazing at Occlumency and was able to fool Lord Voldemort and actually work for Albus Dumbledore as well…and this, all for his love/like/lust what have you of a woman, Lily Evans. He now was living a double life that he would live until the day he died.

We learn when he is speaking to Bellatrix and Narcissa at the start of Half Blood Prince that Voldemort put Snape at Hogwarts for a reason, and that while he has been at Hogwarts he has also tried doing the work of the Voldemort this entire time. We know that Dumbledore asks Severus to go back to Voldemort and still pretend to be on his side for tactical advantages, knowing at anytime that he could be killed. Lets also not forget his killing of the already dying Ablus Dumbledore to fulfill his unbreakable vow he made to Narcissa. No matter what he said or did he always was brought into it deeper and deeper with seemingly no way out.

Snape lived every day of his life not knowing if it would be his last.

So, Snape and his sacrifices. That one moment at the end of Deathly Hallows where Snape comes face to face with Harry proved that he had lived the ultimate sacrifice…he was successful. Snape died to save Harry, and the rest of the people fighting against Voldemort. He was able to tell Harry what happened and just how things worked out. His words, “LOOK…AT…ME” give me goosebumps just thinking about them. Harry recognized everything that Snape did for him when he named little Albus Severus. His actions towards others, especially Harry may not have been the best, but with the weight of the world on your shoulders its hard not to be under stress. It was Harry that had to finish him, but others needed to get the path ready.

Hey there y’all, this is Candace. I’ve been having problems logging into the system that allows me to blog, and I’ve been having internet issues. I had hoped to get a blog in earlier this week but no go. Technology can be a pain sometimes. A HUGE thank you to Abbey for guest blogging! Her blog is kicking off a series of blogs I’d like to do about the sacrifices that the characters have had to make in both series. It’s going to take a long time to write about all the characters that I want, so I may occasionally have other guest bloggers come to give their two cents and I may do a blog here and there that is unrelated to the whole ‘sacrifices’ angle. But that is what is coming up next, so stay tuned and hopefully I will have fixed my computer/internet issues soon!
