Keeping Harry Alive

Hey guys.
Sorry I haven’t written in a long time. I started college at the end of
September, and it’s been a bit of a juggling act, with trying to find my way
around campus, making new friends, and starting classes. But, with all that,
I’ve got a topic for today’s blog! Keeping Harry alive.

Life’s
busy, I know. Day job, school, homework, whatever it is, there are real world
needs that often come before Potter. But Harry is important too. He doesn’t pay
the bills or get the grade, I know. But I know in my case, my history with the
Harry Potter series has honestly given me some of the best experiences and best
friends in my life. It would be a shame to let that fade. But even so, it’s a
struggle sometimes to keep Harry in your life. And once he’s taken a back seat
for a while, how do you find time for him?

One of the
things I was excited about when coming to college was the school’s Harry Potter
book club and Quidditch League. But both meet during the times I have classes,
which means, this quarter at least, I haven’t been able to get involved. Plus,
with the increased homework, and trying to get to know the people I’m now
living with, finding time for my Harry Potter life was difficult. But I found
other ways to bring Potter into my everyday life. I couldn’t go to the college
meetings, but I became more active in HP Ohio, a fan group for adults all over Ohio. I listened to
wizard rock during chemistry labs to keep my sanity. And now that I’m getting
ahold of things here, I’m started to get more active online again, like
attempting to pick up the blog again.

So, I guess
the important thing is to not give up. Find a way to keep Harry in your life
and stick to it. Like any relationship, I guess Potter-love takes work. But I
think in the end, it’s worth it. The fandom has done so much already, I think
it can only get better!
