“Half-Blood Prince” Included on the BAFTA’s Film Awards Longlist

Potential nominations for the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” film continue to be in the air, as the BAFTA organization has included the sixth Potter film in their longlist of potential nominees in a total of seven categories. The British Academy Film and Television Arts list of the first round picks by the 6,000 academy voters included the Potter film as a potential nominee in the Make Up and Hair, Special Visual Effects, Sound, Costume Design, Production Design, and Cinematography categories. Actor Alan Rickman, who portrays the character of Severus Snape, has been longlisted in the Supporting Actor category for his work on the film.
On a related note, actor Timothy Spall (Wormtail) was also longlisted in Supporting Actor category for his role in “The Damned United,” while Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney) was longlisted for Supporting Actress for “An Education.” The full Film Awards Longlist may be found right here in PDF format. The final list of BAFTA nominees will be announced on January 21st.
