Harry Potter alums Kenneth Branagh (Professor Lockhart) and Imelda Staunton (Professor Umbridge) were recently announced to be participating with London’s Tricycle Theatre as ambassadors (alongside other seasoned West End stars) for the theatre’s renovation plan to improve accessibility, increase capacity, and provide an overall enhanced experience for both actors and audience alike.

The project–called the “Name a Seat” campaign–will permit the public to purchase seats at the theatre for £1,000 each and will help fund much-needed improvements, such as a new air cooling system and wheelchair accessibility.

Says Kenneth Branagh:

“It is wonderful that this renovation will allow the Tricycle’s auditorium to be transformed into a state of the art, world-class theatre that truly reflects the quality of the work being produced on its stage.”

Imelda Staunton added:

“By transforming the theatre, the Tricycle can realise its vision to become a venue that is truly accessible for all, where everyone can feel welcome and enjoy a great night out.”

The Tricycle Theatre has raised £5.5 million so far and needs an additional £750,000 to complete the project. For more information on the project or to make a donation, visit the Tricycle Transformed website here.
