Contests, Fun, Fun - Contests, Movies, Products

We love the Houses of Hogwarts fountain pen collection from Ferris Wheel Press so much that we want you to have the opportunity to write with these beautiful pens in your house colours. Being that it is summer, school’s out for many students and teachers, and those of us out of school are hopefully planning summer holidays. It’s the perfect season for a contest — or four! That’s write –erm, I mean, that’s right, we are giving away four of these gorgeous pens, one for each Hogwarts house, in four summer contests. Which do you want to win?

Ferris Wheel Press Houses of Hogwarts Joule Fountain Pen Collection

Let’s start with Slytherin, in honour of Draco Malfoy’s recent birthday. In the everyday lives of wizards and witches, magic could replace some functions of modern technology, particularly in the areas of travel and communications, with apparition, flying carpets, the floo network, and even talking portraits and patronuses. But in other ways, magical folk made do with candles for lighting, owls for postal delivery, and feather quills, ink, and parchment for writing. This is part of the charm of the magical world, and it echoes a desire (seen, ironically, on social media) to revive handcrafts, cooking and baking and knitting and sewing our way to equilibrium in the modern world. When Leaky first saw the Ferris Wheel pens and ink, we were immediately seized with a desire to write real letters again, sealed with wax, delivered by owl. Ok, maybe that delivery method is unrealistic, but the process of putting your thoughts on paper using a pen and bottle of ink feels satisfying in a different way than composing and sending an email.

Picture yourself Slytherin your way across the page with this joule

If you would like to experience that feeling yourself, with a beautiful pen in your house colours, tell us what you are doing by hand these days. Woodwork? Pottery? Reading by candlelight? Commuting by bicycle? Cooking in a wood stove? Is your sourdough starter called Albus Dumbledough? If you can, attach some photos.

Email your entry to [email protected] by Friday, June 26. Remember, this is giveaway #1 for a SLYTHERIN pen.
