Fictionpress to Life

I know the way the economy is going at the moment makes it hard on the wallet to purchase new books. I myself am saving for two books that I really want, and there is not much left over for anything else. I don’t go to the library in my city because, frankly, I don’t have much time for leisure! I mean I do have more time than I did last quarter, but all of my classes are heavily reading centered and after reading literally hundreds of pages each week for class, the thought of sitting down with another book is sometimes daunting.

Fictionpress is an online ‘publishing’ site that lets you create an account and upload stories for the public to read and review. It’s where a lot of budding authors go to get public feedback, to see how their story does with an audience that has not been hand selected from a circle of close friends. And fictionpress can get an author a very big, loyal following, by enabling account holders to be on story alerts or author alerts- a system that sends you an email when a story or author you are following updates with a new chapter.

I love fictionpress because first of all, it’s free. Second, anyone can create an account and post a story, which means that anyone can also review. You get constructive feedback most of the time, a couple of horrible comments, and you get the experience of being a published author without the royalties.

And because it’s almost midnight I’m going to cut this VERY short VERY abruptly so, and I will talk more about this tomorrow on my other blog! (horsesandpotter.blogspot.com)
