Relay For Life

I love crafting, as I’m sure you guys do (and if you don’t, you’re missing out)!

But what makes it even better is crafting for a cause.

This weekend some friends and myself are participating in Relay For Life ’ a 24 hour relay that raises money for Cancer Council Australia.

We decided to take part in this event because a friend of ours passed away last month from cancer. When such an act of nature occurs, it’s hard to find closure. We wanted to do something for our friend, and felt this was at least one small thing she would have been proud to see us do.

With her in mind, we named our relay team Quack Attack after one of her favourite movies, The Mighty Ducks.

Relay teams are encouraged to dress up and have a theme, and we saw it as an opportunity to get together and make a bunch stuff!

We brainstormed ideas on how to display our name and support for the cause, and helped each other to make bandanas and a banner.

We had a great time, and I’m sure it’ll be even better at the event.

Although it’s nice to make things for yourselves, I think it’s always more rewarding to make things for others ’ whether it’s for friends, family, school, work, charity, or strangers in a craft swap, there’s always a profound sense of satisfaction and achievement in having done something good for someone else.
