Finally we have confirmation from J.K. Rowling’s publisher, Bloomsbury Press (via the Glasgow Herald) that it is highly unlikely Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be printed in this year. The article makes light of some interesting subjects including that J.K. pushed up the timetable in order to not rush the book out but also to make sure she didn’t stop enjoying her writing. It also mentioned that all the hype and publicity over Book 4 made her very unhappy and ill. The article has an interesting quote at the end:
Patrick Neale, manager of Waterstone’s, said: “There must be a worry that by 2002, children will have moved on to something else.”
As a pretty serious Harry Potter fan myself, I am perfectly content to wait for Book 5 by listening to the other 4 books on CD, reading the two short “Hogwarts Textbooks” coming out next month, and watching the movie in November. I would rather have an excellent book to read next year….then have to tolerate a rushed, horribly-written and poorly edited book.
