Last night, reader Kevin O’Hagan

Last night, reader Kevin O’Hagan emailed us this rumor:

Anyway on the [ITV] Q&A show with the cast of Emmerdale Jeff Hordley who plays Cain Dingle in the series is the main attraction of the show and is widely regarded amongst the critics in Britain as “The Next Big Thing” was asked if he had anything outside the show lined up he replied “I’ve got something very big coming up soon, hopefully, although I won’t be doing it till 2003.” When pushed on what this was, he revelaed he had been in talks to play none other than Sirius Black.

I couldn’t find any “Q&A” show in ITV’s lineup last night unless he’s talking about “Soap Secrets“. Did anyone hear the same snippet?

We contacted Jeff Hordley’s agent, Simon Bleackley and received this response:

It is not our policy to comment on future projects our clients may be involved in until contracts have been negotiated. However, we can tell you that Jeff is currently under contract with “Emmerdale” until December this year and is deservedly receiving recognition for his portrayal of Cain Dingle.

So there you have it….his agent COULD have said something like “no, not at all” but the above cagey response leads us to believe Kevin was right and we’re looking at the next Sirius Black. What do you think:
