The Snitch reports that the following new entries have been added to the 2002 Guinness Book of World Records:

Largest reading by an author — JK Rowling (UK) was one of three authors who read from their works to an audience of 20,264 at Toronto’s SkyDome stadium (Canada) on 24 October 2000, as part of Harborfront Center’s International Festival of Authors. She read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Biggest initial print run for a novel — JK Rowling’s (UK) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth in the record-breaking series, had an initial print run of 4.8 million copies, of which 3.8 million were printed in the USA (40 times as many as an average bestseller) and 1 million in the UK.

Potty about Potter — The first three books in JK Rowlings (UK) Harry Potter series hold the record for the highest one-year sales for a book series. In 1999, the series sold 18.5 million copies in the USA and over 4.5 million in the UK and Commonwealth. Rowling is also the first novelist to have three titles in the Top Slot of the New York Times bestsellers list for 16 weeks. Book four, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, recieved record advance orders of 5.3 million copies.
