From the editorial pages of the Boston Globe: “In his dreams, President Bush is Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter’s caring headmaster who left no wizard behind. Unlike Dumbledore, Bush wants us to believe in a wand with no zap, a Gringotts with no cash, and a train platform called Nine and Three Quarters, not for sorcery but because Amtrak never gets enough funds to finish the job. Bush said he will revamp Head Start, the federally funded but chronically underfunded preschool education program. Head Start has been around for three-and-a-half decades. It has been proven in many studies to improve the educational chances of low-income children. It is one of the few federal programs praised by both liberals and conservatives, which happens about as often as Draco Malfoy hugs Harry …” (Thanks to Godric’s Ghost for the link.)
