A pair of J.K. Rowling’s shoes are part of an exhibit to showcase the number of women who die in the UK every year as a result of domestic violence. J.K. Rowling’s black satin Jimmy Choo shoes that she wore to the Edinburgh premiere of the first Harry Potter film will later be up for auction, proceeds to benefit YWCA Scotland, Scottish Women’s Aid,and the Edinburgh Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre. In a note beside her shoes, J.K.Rowling writes: “I wore these shoes to the premiere of the first Harry Potter film. I love them dearly but they can do more good supporting hundreds of women rather than one nervous, wobbling writer.”
