Jo Rowling has been nominated for the 2005 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, which was created in 2002 by the Swedish government, and is offered in memory of the beloved Pippi Longstocking author.
The prize of 5 million Swedish crowns (about $600,000 American Dollars) is decided upon by jury, and is awarded based on 'life-time work or artistry'.
