Bloomsbury, who publish the HP books in the UK, credited overseas expansion and sales of the first five Harry Potter books, not the release of Book Six, for a 12.4 percent rise in first-half pretax profit. Bloomsbury has recently expanded its publishing from the UK into the United States and Germany.
Reuters reports that while the sixth volume of the series sold more than 2 million copies in the first 24 hours it was on sale in July in Britain, the full impact of Book Six’s release will not impact its pretax profit until later this year.
