The cover story of this month’s M Magazine, a publication covering “Milwaukee Lifestyle,” features Theresa Corrao, Visual Effects Producer of the last three Harry Potter films. Ms. Corrao (who graduated from this editor’s alma mater, Nicolet High School) also contributed to the special effects on Jurassic Park III, October Sky, Sleepy Hollow, Mighty Joe Young, Contact, Mars Attacks!, Twister, Congo and Jumanji. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The article is, unfortunately, not available online, but here is some relevant quotage:

” . . . It is the Harry Potter movies that have been the most challenging, Theresa says. ‘Consider that there were about 40 visuals in Jurassic Park and there are about 1,800 visuals in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. . . The hours can be difficult and it is definitely a different world. On the flip side, you get to be involved in these amazing films, in an industry that continues to evolve.'”

The Leaky Cauldron is not associated with J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros., or any of the individuals or companies associated with producing and publishing Harry Potter books and films.
