The July issue of Empire Magazine has a new feature on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. While there are no new photos, there are new quotes from some of the cast including Dan Radcliffe Imelda Staunton and Evanna Lynch, as well as insights from director David Yates and producer David Heyman, who recalls a conversation with J.K. Rowling regarding the Black Family tree.

“Jo keeps the books and films very separate,” says Heyman. “I’m the one calling her up, making sure we don’t do anything that will mess with her fiction. She really wants the films to be as good as they could be. We needed to visualise Sirius Black’s family tree, so we told Jo. And she said ‘I understand.’ Fifteen minutes later a fax came through with the entire Black family tree which had the family crest, their motto, with eight generations of Blacks with all their names. Her world is embedded in her.”

Avatar Image says: more of Evanna Lynch? Squeeee give me that interview!Avatar Image says: Excellent,Thank you! It's nice to get some of the behind-the -scenes thoughts ,perspectives and fun[!]. I loved some of the comments and some where quiet funny. Dan[LOL!]Avatar Image says: The pictures may not be new, but holy cow, does the -beauty- of Dan's face hit me anew every time, especially in high res. He is so photogenic. And articulate! Interesting article, we were lucky that it actually took place on Rupert's birthday and got a glimpse of a "real" day. They were quite descriptive of him (that should make r-fans happy for once). His "shuffling walk" seems very characteristic of him. Avatar Image says: A good article at LAST! A journalist who actually knows his/her stuff! I loved the interviews... Dan's comment on tongues, Rupert's stuff (finally some recognition!) and Evanna's lovely tidbit. We all love her and her fan-ness. Yay. I would say congrats to the journalist. Avatar Image says: YES! I'm so glad they made a point to say that all cuts have been approved by Jo herself! I'm reallly enjoying this article!Avatar Image says: A Black family tree drawn by jo with 8 generations on it! The one that HPL knows of (the book aid one that dan bought at auction) only has 6. I hope screen shots of the the one Jo faxed to David Heyman makes it on to the extras of the OOTP DVD. on the other hand, it could be the book aid one and hayman has inccorectly guessed that there are 8, not 6 generations on it. If it is the same hand drawn tree that was auctioned, it is still cool, as we do not have a full picture of it, only partial pics from newspapers (jo wished to keep parts hidden) and a compiled one by the lexicon, based on accurate intelligence from a fan who visited the auction and recorded any information that we were missing. some of the dates on the Book Aid BFT are impossible. this may be due to jo's acknowlaged weakness at maths, but it could also be faulty intelligence from the fan who went to the auction. wheather Heyman's copy is different to the bookaid copy or not, we will still get to verify dates, names ect, and that can only be good.Avatar Image says: Hahahaha! I love the comment on the last page: BELLATRIX IN AZKABAN: DON'T DROP THE SOAP lol!!!!Avatar Image says: This is a really good article. Leaky gallery- is there any way to reorder the scans so that they fall in numberical order?Avatar Image says: I hate it when people call it "Septology" because it's wrong. There's no such thing. It's supposed to be called a heftalogy. Just like Star Wars is supposed to be a hexalogy. So please everyone, if you're a true Harry Potter fan, please refer to it as a heftalogy.Avatar Image says: That was fantastic. I loved every comment from everyone (especially Dan). I can't wait for this film to come out! 47 days to go!!Avatar Image says: how wonderful... james and oliver phelps get the shaft... http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b121/DarkLady_1986/JamesOliverMention.jpg Phelps mention underlined....Avatar Image says: Wow, amazing article. I'm especially happy that they made a point of mentioning that all the cuts were approved by Jo - I'll still miss them (Weasley is our king!!) but it feels better somehow. My big complaint - since WHEN is OoTP the "acknowledged least favorite"???? Hmph. I haven't heard that before, but maybe I'm just out of the loop and not in the majority opinion because it is my run-away favorite of the six we have so far. I CAN'T WAIT for this movie!!! Favorite comment on the photos - of Bellatrix in Azkaban, "Don't drop the soap." Priceless! I'm still laughing.Avatar Image says: I'm sure JKR was delighted that a doodle to keep herself straight while writing is going to get some Hollywood polish. I'm looking forward to seeing the Black Family tapestry--and pausing the DVD to study it! aughra likes inspecting the tapestries...Avatar Image says: loved the article...really can't understand why everyone thinks that the 5th book is the least liked. It has to be the 2nd best for me at least. HBP tops...:)Avatar Image says: Wonderful article. Loved the part about Rupert's birthday. Loved the parts about Jo. Great article overall.Avatar Image says: They did not just misspell "installment." Bahaha. Jo made David lunch! I love her. "The only person who knows something about what will happen to their character in book seven is Alan Rickman." Wow.Avatar Image says: I liked the part about "Free Willy", that movie makes so much more sense to me now.Avatar Image says: I always enjoy EW's Harry Potter articles. I wish Yates would have expanded more on his lunch with Jo. Lucky movie people to get inside info. Avatar Image says: Rupert I would never forget your birthday. Call me. Avatar Image says: Such a witty article, must remember to buy a copy of the magazine. Favourite bit? "And at the time of this interview he was readying himself to prance about with his 'Nimbus 2000' on display on a London stage in Peter Shaffer's Equus." I spat my drink all over the screen when I read that. BUAHAHAHAHAHA!Avatar Image says: this is the best article yet, very interesting. I'm glad they mentioned how they always ask Jo's approval about cuts etc. I liked the tongue comment :D LemonFaerie I agree OooP is my absolute favourite.Avatar Image says: Wow, really great interview! Even Rupert said more and everything he said was like a punchline. Cool stuff, cool stuff. :) Can't wait!Avatar Image says: So Alan Rickman knows what will happen to Snape???? Time to get my passport and lay seige to his house! Otherwise it was a great article. Personally though, I looooooved Phoenix (the book). -BAvatar Image says: Emma, would you mind tell us how broad exactly Rupert's shoulders have gotten? :-P :-D teehee OotP book is really mine and most of my friends least fave book, but it seems the film is really going to make me like it better, much better I'm hoping ;-)Avatar Image says: That was a great read. It was great hearing from Evanna again, shes brilliant. I can't wait to see her in the film!!Avatar Image says: I wonder why everybody dress as Luna on Rupert's b-day..is this because he plays Ron and something may happen in the future with Ron and Luna...wow I'm intrigueAvatar Image says: Hmm, I wonder if any book purists here caught the bit where David Yates said everything is checked with Jo - WITH JO'S APPROVAL??? It's good to know. In an ideal world we'd like to sit and watch an 8 hour marathon of a film with everything from the book in it but in real time they have to cut it down, they have to cater for non-HP fans too. Love Jo's reaction to Evanna Lynch, and Emma talking about Rupert getting 'so broad'. Feels like I'm infringuing on a family get-together lol.Avatar Image says: intre, I think you read the pages out of order. everyone dressing up as Luna was for the auditions, completely separate from rupert's birthday. Hardly your fault, though. Leaky has them in the wrong order! and I've been under the impression that Phoenix was the least loved for a while. I still can't imagine why, though. It's my favoriteAvatar Image says: Funny: Dan forgetting Rupert's birthday Dan slipping Katie the tongue in the H/C kiss Luna auditions Not funny: Nothing new in OotP? the article's making fun of the political "subtext" Avatar Image says: I agree
