Rumor Squashed: No Official James Potter Site, Movie or Spin-off Series

Scores of readers have emailed regarding a news story about a website promoting something known as “James Potter and the Hall of Elders’ Crossing.” Replete with the familiar Hedwig’s Theme music, familiar animation, and the tradition fonts used to open the Harry Potter films and such, the site looks seemingly authentic. Rumors were bandied about, with the speculation that this was to be some sort of Harry Potter sequel, spin-off or other related official material, but that has all been formally denied as nothing more than a fan hoax, and is not official. Also, a search of trusty Google reveals this title is based on a piece of fanfiction from some time ago, and the host site (www.mellowtiger.com), was also once part of a Stephen King fan webring.

Thanks to everyone who emailed and researched this!

this is an AMAZING website!!! i just love how they made it. besides, it even says on the website (when you enter the second passoword) that it is a fake website and has no relation to Jo.

Why couldn’t it be real? How cool would that be! Awesome site!

when someone shows this musch dedication to the contence of a fanfic JamesPotter story as to the construction of the site he or she gets my blessing.

wether the initiative gets Warner Bros’ blessing for using their creation is quite a different matter.

WB isn’t that blessfull I understood, some rumors about their action have reached me.

I hope the site isn’t pulled because of WB before december.

that’s some serious animation right there.

Its a pretty cool site. I thought it might be fan-fiction originally, and hopefully that is still true.

Rather nicely done. It’s almost got me interested in reading more fanfic.

Well, real or not, I do enjoy a good fan fiction. This sounds like a prequel, so what harm could it do. I doubt they will be selling anything, so usually fan fiction is encouraged. Isn’t it?

kinda Daniel.

If people are actually getting confused that this might somehow be real, WB and JKR could feel that this site is not making it clear enough that its a fake. (if you notice many fan websites and fan fics do have disclaimers that are fairly visible)

Am I the only person who doesn’t think that this looks real? =P Even if I hadn’t seen this story, and I’d just stumbled across it, I’d be able to tell that it wasn’t official WB stuff.

The intro is so awesome.. with the Harry changing into James just awesome!! at first it kinda convinced me tho i thought to myself that Jo will not make a James book serie or anything… but it sure looks good.. i hope it stays up to the 1st of december..

Stupid. I can’t believe you would actually like a spin-off, That would just be milking a franchise. Something Jo Rowling was very concerned abour, when they wanted to make movies out of the books. The adventures of james potter, that would be so weak.

Reading about the maurader’s many adventures would be funny to read. If only Jo wrote more about the HP world! Ha…in my dreams.

Well done animation but definitely not professional quality. The website has a few obvious giveaways that make it pretty clearly fake. Thanks though for the extra confirmation TLC. The rumors were getting down right silly.

@redbeard: I don’t exactly appreciate being called stupid as I hope you can imagine… Everyone has their own thoughts okay… be polite or please leave because nobody likes being called stupid…
